Addressing a press meet here, Khader said, "Narendra Modi and his government are playing revenge politics. By conducting I-T raids on Congress leaders' houses they are trying to send a message to the nation that they are not corrupt. But in realtiy, their government and leaders are also corrupt, and that is why they are against passing Lokpal act.
"Modi's reluctance to enforce Lokpal act is proof that that his government is corrupt. His own Gujarat does not have a Lokayukta. So why this drama of raids? Let Modi bring in a stong Lokpal act and prove his sincerity," he said.
"The Congress MLA s of Gujarat came to Karnataka seeking protection from Gujarat BJP. They were facing threat to life ahead of the Rajya Sabha election in Gujarat. So now, Modi and the BJP is threatening them indirectly with I-T raids on D K Shivakumar.
"Secondly, they are trying to defame the Congress at the national level. They should stop doing this and face us on genuine issues," he said.
Speaking about the death of Alva's high school student Kavya, he said, "There are some elements who are trying to drag this entire issue in order to create confusion and anxiety among the public. This is unacceptable. Kavya's parents should get justice. They should get answers to their questions and doubt, and the government and the police are doing everything to ensure the same."
He also also spoke on the new ration card application process and said that August 15-16 is the deadline for completing the process. "We have given permission to appoint an additional data entry operator for speeding up the process. The appointment will be on temporary basis," he said.
