UAE: Fire Sends Smoke Across the Abu Dhabi Sky
Abu Dhabi, May 13: Six warehouses in close proximity with the Mina Zayed (Port Zayed) has been completely gutted as a massive fire broke out on Monday evening.
"Fire fighters are still fighting the blaze and trying to control it from spreading it to other warehouses in the area", an official said.
A large number of fire fighters, fire engines, helicopters and ambulances has been deployed in the area.
No injuries and deaths have been reported so far, the official confirmed. "The area has been cordoned off to limit the damages. We do not know what was stocked in the warehouses so far", he added.
Thick clouds of smoke could be seen rising from the Mina area. The smoke could be seen from most areas in the city.
As per eye witness accounts the fire started around 5.45 in the evening.
