Karkala, May 16: Reports of a suspected Naxal attack  killing two persons at Sitanadi near Hebri  was reported on Thursday, May 15. The victims are identified as Bhoja Shetty (57) and Suresh Shetty(50), both residents of Sitanadi. The incident occurred while Bhoja Shetty and Suresh Shetty were returning home  after visiting a shop at Tingale
cross.

The Naxals suddenly attacked the  duo when they were opening the gate of the house . It is believed that about 4 to 5 persons suddenly opened fired and emptied about 10 15 rounds on them. They later they fled the scene after  throwing some handbills on their bodies. Sources informed that Bhoja Shetty succumbed to injuries on the spot and
Suresh Shetty died on the way to the hospital.

A few years ago Naxals had attacked Bhoja Shetty alleging that he was a police informant. But somehow he escaped with his life. This time he was not lucky. He fell prey to the assassin’s bullets. Bhoja Shetty was a  school  teacher in Seetanadi.  He was also a BJP activist in the area. He had infact breeded an enmity with the naxals who had cautioned him not to  inform the police about their movements. Call for Boycott:

Recently, Naxals had asked the locals there to boycott the assembly elections. Therefore, the Election Commission has deployed additional forces which include Anti Naxal Forces and central paramilitary forces in the Naxal infected  areas of the state. These forces carried out  a march-past in Hebri town on Wednesday, May 14. But the Naxals proved the existence of their strong base at the bottom of Western Ghats by killing two persons.

Having born and grown up in Seethanadi, known both the victims perosnally it is indeed a shocking news. May god provide enough strenth to the immidate families It is not possible to control the naxals at ghat sections with just occasional cubing and march past. The infrstructre development with poilitical will is need of the hour. If Andhra can control naxal menance then why not Karnataka?

    1. Bharati-Understandable, you are saying they have some advantages. But that is no excuse not to bring down this wrong movement. 2. In todays context, India is a place where if one reasonably is ready to work, there is no such thing as no-work situations where one cannot feed oneself. 3. These naxals, that operate under wrong pretense in the current context need to be made to understand. And beleive me, this is only by being strong and making them change to the realities of current world. 2. Leaders and people should get together and tackle this issue. Raise this issue at every meeting with your political representatives.

    3. If you know of people at the center take it to them too. This is the problem with any other issue in India. 4. I would say solution is to, form a police-citizen squad and arm this group. have proper plans in place to defend and go offensive. Disband group after the elimination of naxals. 5. Long term the reality is even the naxals are humans but mis-guided at this point. Need to be rehabilitated. 6. A place like South Canara does not need any Naxal movement for sure. For that matter anywhere else too.

I think people in India, and also all around the world are just not realizing that it is impossible to curbe terrorist / rebelist activities at anytime. If a terrorist / extremist wants to strike, he (they) will strike. No police or government can do anything about it. Terrorists/ Rebels are fighting for a cause for which they are ready to lay down their and thousands of other lives......the police/ or any law enforcement agency are just doing their job to get a paltry monthly salary to feed their family.

There is no comparision between the commitments of the two sides. Sensibility, would be to try and prevent situations which lead to such terror/ extreme organizations to be formed. Not in trying to snub them / control them. Thats just not possible. I feel sad for the loved ones of the victims. But more than that i feel anger towards the people who for their vested intrests forced the formation of a Naxal movement. Its all the product of a defunct democratic system which should be done away with.

Nobody should encourage or entertain such kind of naxalates or the terrorists. If anybody justify such incidents, they will also be equally guilty.

Who is giving monetary support to Naxals so that they can buy arms and keep their movement alive. How come the Communists from ruling coalition UPA "NEVER" condemn Naxals. How much funds flow from China to keep this movement alive? After Communist cam to power in center these naxals are growing strong in various states all over India.

This is extremely shocking. The naxalism should be dealt with iron hand. May the deceased soul rest in peace.
