Sharjah: 'Sangama Kalavidaru' Accords Warm Reception to 'Lakumi Troupe'

Sharajah, May 23: 'Lakumi,' a troupe of Tulu drama specialists who are very popular entertainers back home, is in the Emirates to perform highly-popular and hilarious yet theme-based family plays  at Sheik Rashid Auditorium on Friday May 23. The programme is being organized by 'Nama Tuluver', UAE.
 
The local group of artistes, 'Sangama Kalavidaru' and the Gulf's first Kannada news website www.gulfkannadiga.com hosted a warm and befitting reception to the artistes at K1 friends place in Sharjah on Wednesday May 21.

'Sangama Kalavidaru' was founded in 2001 by the late Umesh Nanthoor, founder president of Sharjah Karnataka Sangha.The group aims primarily at providing a platform to all the amateur artistes, both old and aspiring, from Karnataka to showcase their talents. Artistes from all walks of life sink their differences like caste, religion and social standing,  to come together to share their knowledge, thoughts and experiences to harness and hone their own talents and also those of the young, budding artistes.

The dinner reception started with the rendering of prayer by Prabhakar Shenoy. Ganesh Rai welcomed the gathering and introduced the renowned artiste 'Kusalda Arase' Naveen D Padil who happens to be the director of Lakumi troupe, Thoulava Ratna Anand Bolar and Ln Kishore D Shetty, head of the Lakumi Troupe.
 
Kishore Shetty introduced each and every member of his vibrant and enthusiastic celebrity troupe.

Chief guest  B G Mohandas, past president of Karnataka Sangha Dubai paid rich tributes to the doyen of Kannada and Tulu movement in the Gulf region, the late Umesh Nanthoor and  hailed his love and contribution towards staging of the  first Yakshagana, Kannada as well as Tulu stage performances in the Gulf.

Sahitya Siri and Sahitya Vichakshana Vasanth V Amin and  Tulunada Ratna Dinesh Attavar, Gopinath Rao of Kannadadvani.com, Umesh Kuckian, president of Billvas, Dubai and Northen Emirates, Vishwanth Shetty of Sangama Kalavidaru, Shodan Prasad of Nama Tuluver, Sujay Bendore of Daijiworld, Noel Almeida, Jeevan Kuckian and Harish Kamath were among the fine arts connoisseurs who attended this warm reception.

This is the first time 'Lakumi' will be staging its most popular plays, 'Anchilatt Inchilatt' and 'Nambunane Nambodu' in the UAE.

The event will kick off at 3.30 pm at Sheik Rashid Auditorium on May 23 with the guests flowing in from Muscat, Qatar and other neighbouring Gulf countries apart from the drama loving fans of UAE.. 

The programme will start with the play, 'Nambunane Nambodu', followed by the second stage performance 'Anchilatt Inchilatt', scheduled at 7 pm.

The function ended with fellowship and dinner after Prabhakar Shenoy proposed vote of thanks.
