Mangaluru: Konkan railway officials return bag to true owner, earn accolades

Mangaluru, Aug 30: Konkan Railway officials, who had undertaken some passenger-friendly measures earlier, have added another feather to their cap by doing something praiseworthy.

A passenger,Sudhakar Gawas, was travelling to Sawantwadi from Mumbai by Pune-Ernakulam Express train when the bag got exchanged with that of another passenger. The bag of Gawas contained ornaments valued at around Rs 2.5 lac. Sudhakar came to know about this when he alighted at Sawantwadi station.

The passenger immediately contacted the railway station master there and informed what had happened. The station master conveyed this information to official of railway protection force at Margao, Ranjith Marandi, and IPF officer, Anosh Kumar. The Konkan Railway officials then acted on the information, found out the bag intact upon the arrival of the train, retrieved it, and returned to Sudhakar Gawas safely.
