Mangaluru, Aug 29: In an explosive claim, former Congress MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty has claimed that district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai faces rowdyism cases, and hence should not be given the important home ministry.
Speaking to a reporter on video, Shetty said, "It is not right to assign the home ministry to a person like Ramanath Rai who has rowdyism cases against him."
"There is a rowdy case against Ramanath Rai in Vittal police station. I have seen the case record myself. What he had done in Bajpe is well known. I will not talk about it now. There were cases relating to rowdism, brawls and fights against him since his college days," he alleged.
"Rai had been in other parties before he came to Congress. It will be unfortunate if he is given the home ministry. Even a child will not consent to giving the portfolio to a rowdy," he said.
"Energy minister D K Shivakumar is an ideal person for the post. Assigning the sensitive portfolio of home ministry is against Congress principles and ideology. Rai will not be able to perform his duties. He is doing drama such as unity march," he added.
