Bengaluru, Aug 31: In perhaps the final expansion of his four and half year-old ministry before next year’s assembly polls in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is set to induct three new ministers on Friday September 1.

The latest induction of the three ministers at Raj Bhavan on Friday evening is for filling up the three vacancies.

Former minister HS Mahadeva Prasad’s wife Geetha Mahadeva Prasad, who got elected from the former’s Gundlupet assembly seat, R B Thimmapur, MLA and H M Revanna, MLC, are likely to be sworn in by Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala on Friday evening.

However, it remains to be seen as to who will be getting the crucial Home portfolio after the expansion of the cabinet.

While Geetha Mahadeva Prasad comes as a representative of women and represents the politically powerful Lingayat community, Thimmapur is a Dalit leader belonging to the Left section of the community while Revanna is from the backward class Kuruba community.

Thimmapur was the Minister for Planning, Institutional Finance/Statistics in the S M Krishna government, while Revanna too served as the Silk Minister in the Congress government led by Krishna.

Revanna, incidentally, is considered very close to the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Geetha Prasad, who won the recently held bi-elections to the Gundlupet constituency of the Chamarajanagar district.
Election was held following the death of her husband Mahadeva Prasad.

Siddaramaiah, who recently visited to Delhi had held discussions on the Cabinet expansion with party high command and AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka K C Venugopal.
