Mangalore and Udupi, May 25: Both BJP and Congress victorious candidates rushed to the street, soon after the official announcement of their victories. Election Commission (EC) has banned the all forms of victory celebration for 3 days from announcing poll results. Despite of restrictions, candidates and their supporters were found celebrating victory by merrily dancing, hugging each other and distributing sweets.

Mangalore, May 25: BJP, which has never formed majority government in the state or even in south India, has made history by winning the Karnataka polls as the largest party. Congress has already conceded defeat and congratulated BJP.
The lotus has bloomed in South Kanara too. While Laxminarayan has clinched the Byndoor seat, Mallika Prasad has done the trick for BJP. Totally, out of the 13 seats, it is 8 for BJP and 5 for Congress.
Jayaprakash Hegde who made his comeback by joining Congress a few days before the polls, doesn't seem to have cast the magic Congress was expecting in Kundapur. Haladi Srinivas Shetty of BJP has registered a big win with a margin of almost 22,000 votes.
In Mulki-Moodbidri, Abhayachandra Jain has managed to hold on to his lead right from the beginning. He has won by almost 10,000 votes over his rival Jagadeesh Adhikari.
U T Khader of Congress who was maintaining a lead right from the start has been declared winner in Mangalore Constituency, defeating Padmanabh Kottari of BJP by almost 7,000 votes.
Lalaji Mendon registered a small victory of 867 margin from Kaup and Yogish Bhat winning Mangalore South against Ivan D'Souza with a margin of more than 8,500 votes. Meanwhile Ramanath Rai has opened the account for Congress with a win from Bantwal over Nagaraj Shetty with a margin of about 1,200 votes and Gopal Bhandary from Congress too has won over his rival Sunil Kumar in Karkala with a margin of about 1,500 votes.
JD(S) which is not making much impact state and district-wise, has something to cheer about as Kumaraswamy registered a win from his contituency.
K Angara has won the Sullia seat over Congress candidate Dr Raghu with a margin of 4064 votes while Krishna Palemar marched ahead with a thumping victory for Mangalore North seat.
