Udupi, Sep 1: A delegation led by president of the local city municipal council (CMC), Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, met deputy commissioner of the district and handed over a memorandum against BJP councillors on Thursday August 31. CMC president accused BJP of obstructing normal proceedings of general session of CMC continuously as the opposition is against the civic administration that is working for the progress of women.
In the memorandum, Bannanje said that councillor, Yashpal Suvarna, had snatched the microphone away from her during the proceedings of the generla session, while Mahesh Thakur took away agenda and file. "Although we signed the attendance register first, the opposition members refused to sign and now making allegations unnecessarily," she claimed.
She said that the ruling party has been working strenuously to vibe with the development needs of 35 wards of the city by holding monthly general sessions regularly and responding to basic problems bothering the people. "Minister, Pramod Madhwaraj, by evincing special interest, got grant of over Rs 25 crore for the municipality over and above normal grants. Although we have been working sincerely, the opposition party is making unfounded allegations and showing disrespect to the house and councillors of the ruling party," she stated.
The delegation comprised vice president of CMC, Sandhya Thilakraj, former president, P Yuvaraj, K Janardan Bhandarkar, Celine Karkada, Ramesh Kanchan and some others.
