Madikeri, Sep 6: Pavana, wife of deputy superintendent of police, M K Ganapati, who committed suicide last year at Madikeri, said that she is relieved at the fact that the case of suicide by her husband has been given to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by Supreme Court.

After initially demanding CBI probe into the case, she had got busy with her life, while her father-in-law and brother-in-law followed up the demand for CBI probe vigorously by filing cases, and without cooperating the probe conducted by the state criminal investigation department and the judicial inquiry commission appointed by the state government.

Pavana said that she fully supports the stand taken by her father-in-law, M K Kushalappa and brother-in-law, M K Machaiah, in carrying the fight to its logical conclusion. At the same time, she said she was ignorant about destruction of evidence by CID as reported by the media recently in the case. She said that her husband never brought his laptop home but he used to narrate to her about harassment faced by him from authorities, which he also admitted in front of the media.

She stated that she did not join in filing private complaint as she was faced with the immediate task of taking care of educational needs of her children. She said that the CID probe was taking a toll on their education and she wanted to keep them free of these things. Pavana however, refused to delve more into the issue, saying that she was in grief over her mother's death two weeks back.

Machaiah asserted that the guilty should face the music, duly holding the view that CID had shielded the guilty. He however said that he and his family are not demanding resignations but only want minister, K J George, to uphold and obey law of the land.
