Bengaluru: Kin of Gauri Lankesh differ on investigation methodology

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Sep 8: Apparently, Kavita Lankesh, sister of slain journalist, Gauri Lankesh, and brother, Indrajit Lankesh, have differences of opinion over who should be entrusted with the task of investigating this murder. They also differ about whether naxals had a role in Gauri's murder or not.

Indrajit stated that if special investigation team fails to achieve the objective, he would be demanding a probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He hinted that Naxal hand might be behind his sister's murder, but Kavita dismissed such a possibility.

Although both of them addressed a joint conference here on Thursday, apparently there was difference in their tone and tenor. Indrajit, who initially said he would like CBI investigation into the murder, changed his stand after Kavita said that it has become a fashion to demand for CBI investigation, by saying that if special investigation team fails to provide justice he would personally demand CBI investigation.

Kavita said that she could think only of ideological differences resulting in this murder and accused the media of trying to mislead investigation by claiming that naxals were involved with this murder.

Indrajith Lankesh is follower of Sanghee ideology. So, keep his opinion away from this case. On Republic channel debate, he was opposing Rahul Gandhi's view on Gauri murder case, where as he did not show guts to oppose Subramanya Swami opinion, where he told "Old family feud may be the reason for murder"!

He must be eyeing on MLA ticket to contest in next election from BJP.

Though there is nothing wrong in deamanding CBI inquiry.., but people must realize that..., it should not become another Case like DK Ravi...,

people must also know..., since this is a hyper sensitive case..., and political price is at high stake..., whether CBI team discharge its duty to reveal the truth or conceal the truth...,

if we go by the people's mood at the grass root level ..., politically it has already caused a great amount of damage...., one way or the other...,

Sheena Bora was murdered by her own biological mother Indrani and nobody suspected her for months. Hate and jealousy are enough motives for people to commit the ultimate crime. In many cases relatives turn on each other for money, property and inheritance too.

Gauri Lankesh, brother, Indrajit Lankesh, has differences with her sister after their father passed away.
This has made Gauri Lankesh to relaunch publishing in different name.

She has brought many Naxalites many stream by giving up arms especially in Chikmagalur district. But Naxal was never direct threat unlike right wing group who celebrated her death.

It also raises doubt about Indarjit participating in debate in NDA sponsored Republic TV adopting the same lines of blind haters.

It seems Indraji wanted to take over the business of Lankesh Patrike but Lankesh taking over it doesn't go well with him.

Let him have patience with administrative proceedings on the investigation. We all know who has caged the parrot from the investigation agency.

Sir,After the passing of their father, P Lankesh, Indrajit inherited the family's weekly tabloid, Lankesh Patrike, with Gauri serving as editor-in-chief. This arrangement though, was short-lived.

In 2005, Indrajit forced Gauri out of the family business, alleging that she was pro-Naxal. He even filed a police complaint accusing her of stealing equipment from Lankesh Patrike. Gauri, in a counter-complaint, alleged that her brother had threatened her with a revolver.

Subsequently, she would go on to form her own publication, Gauri Lankesh Patrike, where she continued to voice her Left-leaning views. Given his contempt for her politics, it is only natural that Indrajit would prefer a narrative in line with his own views.

Further, Indrajit's anti-Left views have, in recent times, manifested in a decided right wing connection. While he has denied joining the BJP, an interview of Indrajit in the New Indian Express as recently as July speaks to the contrary. In it, he calls politics “a new responsibility”.
More proof of this can be seen in the pictures of Indrajit in the company of BJP stalwarts BS Yeddyurappa and Shobha Karandlaje at a function in honour of the Kannada reformer Basavanna. At the function, Indrajit hinted at joining the BJP, even going so far as to compare corruption-tainted Yeddyurappa to Basavanna. These images are on Indrajit's Facebook page.

Given that a Hindu extremist angle would hurt the BJP the most, especially with Karnataka assembly polls just around the corner, it is hardly surprising that Lankesh would try to protect the party.

Since Lankesh's death, the right wing has done its best to deflect suspicion away from itself by giving Naxal angle. This is the same narrative that Indrajit Lankesh has propped up since. In various interviews, Indrajit, who originally called for a CBI enquiry, has directed blame for the crime squarely at the Naxalite movement.

Indrajit Lankesh is a pure BJP man. since last 8-9 years his magazine "Lankesh Patrike (not Gauri Lankesh Weekly) has become just a mouth piece of BJP as it is full fake news praising Yaddy and insulting Siddaramaiah and congress.
Indrajit is also an aspirant for BJP MLA ticket from a seat from Bengaluru for next 2018 Assembly election. So, he is intentionally trying to derail the investigation so that real right-wing culprits are not caught.
Since CBI is in the Hands of Amit Shah, Indrajit thinks that if this case is given to CBI then CBI can be pressurized not to catch the real culprit but fix some mentally sick beggar as they did not the case of Saujanya of Ujire.

Indrajit Lankesh is a well known BJP/RSS sympathizer/supporter who was against his slain sister Gauri Lankesh's views. It is very important that the investigation/probe must include Indrajit Lankesh too as a 'person of interest'. Nothing and no one must be ruled out even if they are close relatives.

There is nothing wrong in Indrajith being a BJP supporter or Kavitha being a Congress supporter. in a democracy we can have any political affiliations. the only issue is not to start the probe with prejudice and look at all the angles. if you are suggesting Indrajith is to be made a party to this unfortunate event why not Rahul Gandhi be made a party. why you left out his name. He directly accused a party without even using the word possible.
