Mangaluru, Sep 9: Dakshina Kannada (DK) district Congress held protest against Member of Parliament (MP) Nalin Kumar Kateel at clock tower, Hampanakatta in city on Saturday, September 9.
Condemning the MP’s threat to police inspector on the day of 'Mangalore Chalo' rally, Mithun Rai, president of DK youth Congress, said "MP is acting like a street goonda. He had said earlier that he would set fire to the district. He does not know how to behave with the people and public servants. The video shows how MP is threatening the police inspector Maruti Naik with the help of goons,”
“He used abusive words also. So he is not fit to be a public representative. Threatening the public servants and distrusting their work is a serious and punishable crime in India. MP Nalin Kumar is working without knowledge of our laws and rules. He knows only how to set fire and do hate speech. We the members of youth Congress condemn the act of MP and demand his resignation with immediate effect. Otherwise we will organize a large and strong protest against him,” Mithun said.
Harish Kumar, president of Dakshina Kannada Congress said “MP Nalin Kumar is defaming the name of Dakshina Kannada by his goondaism. He acted like that after the failure of Mangaluru Chalo rally. Before the rally, BJP leaders had said that around one lac members would participate in the rally. But after the programme they realized that they cannot even bring five thousand people. So Nalin Kumar showed his frustration and anger on the police inspector,”
“He has failed to bring any good projects to the district during his term. That is why now he is planning to win in the next election with the help of communal polarisation and goondaism. But it will not work. The intelligent people of Dakshina Kannada have already decided to throw him out,” Harish added.
SP Dinesh, the Congress candidate for teachers’ constituency South West said, “ MP Nalin Kumar has showed the BJP’s culture. They do not know how to communicate with the people and public servants. They made Dakshina Kannada , a district affected with communal violence. They never want peace in the district and Nalin Kumar is trying to defame the district in the national level. He is number one MP for hate speeches and rowdism,”
Youth congress leaders Praveen Chandra Alva, Lukman, Sohail Kandak, Meryl Rego and many members were present.
