Bengaluru: 'No tickets for children of ministers, legislators' - Parameshwara

Bengaluru, Sep 10: "We have decided against issuing party tickets to children of ministers and MLAs in the assembly election. At the same time, there is no guarantee that we will issue tickets to all the sitting MLAs," said Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, Dr G Parameshwara, speaking to a Kannada daily.

This information has come at a time when a number of people including chief minister, Siddaramaiah, and minister, Mahadevappa, and some other prominent Congress leaders are preparing the ground to field their children in the next election.

Clarifying certain issues, Parameshwara said the fact that he has been KPCC president for seven years speaks volumes about his performance. He felt that issue of aub-caste differences and Lingayat religion are confined to politics. While he agreed that he too aspires to be the chief minister, he added that if high command so wishes, Siddaramaiah will be the next chief minister. Parameshwaraa also agree that he has differences of opinion on certain issues with the chief minster but added that he does not believe in fighting over such issues in public like BJP.

Parameshwara asserted that chance of victory will be the only yardstick when allotting ticket for the assembly election.He also dismissed the notion that Congress is afraid of BJP national president, Amit Shah.
