Bantwal, Jun 3: Dakshina Kannada has neither seen a minister as horrible as Nagaraj Shetty nor will see anyone like him in future, said former minister and Beltangady MLA Vasant Bangera on Tuesday, June 3.

Speaking at a function organized by the Congress to thank party activists who worked for the victory of Ramanath Rai, Bangera said that Shetty did not hesitate to felicitate criminals in jail.

He had totally forgotten the needs of the district and behaved like an arrogant person. Hence, voters sent him back home, remarked Bangera. Shetty was busy tarnishing the image of Rai through false propaganda, and this eventually backfired, he opined.

Thanking the voters and party workers, Rai promised to work in accordance to the expectations of party activists. He also assured that development work in the constituency would continue unabated.

Rai expressed his gratitude to the voters of Bantwal constituency where he has won five times and lost only once. He said priority would be given to maintainance of peace and harmony in the area. No organization associated with the Congress creates animosity between religions, Rai asserted.

Sankappa Rai, former president of zilla parishad, presided over the function.

MLAs Abhayachandra, and U T Khader, Congress leaders Harikrishna Bantwal, K S M Masood, Maruti, Narayanappa, Moiddin Bava, and Dr Raghu were also present on the occasion.

Electorate have shown that bringing enimosity between religions will not be rewarded. I hope Mr. Nagraj Shetty will learn from his mistakes. By arranging lunch at temples and distributing tiles you can not win elections. Hope Mr. Ramanath Rai will meet the expectations of the people.

It is an open secret that Mr.Nagraj Shetty used to meet his Sanga Pariwar criminals in the Jail. This time regardless of caste all peace loving secular voters defeated Shetty. This is the lesson for the dk leaders "we don't like communal politics, we want secular leaders, we want peace, progress and communal harmony in our Tulu Nadu".Jai Hind.

I remember the hullabaloo at Bajpe airport sometime back and in the process also caught up in the excitement wondering who is going to finally emerge out. As it turned out a hand waving bulky figure in Ramanath Rai was arriving. I don't know if the daijiworld lens caught it wrong or not, but Mr.Rai in the photo has his face swollen and eyes red. What was he celebrating by the way...a ticket to warm up the opposition benches? I also can't help but notice the ominous absence of sabre-rattling Janardhan Poojary in the ranks. All the congress leaders are for once occupying front benches in the absence of their larger than life political bosses.

It’s easy to blame any one.... Bangrea what he has done for the economy?  He is just creating problem between people.... In Indian current politics no one is a good person.. Neither Rai or Nagaraj.. Every one wants to make money for their family or their own purpose or for their friends.. No one has guts to do the basic development..... so stop criticizing any one Mr BANAGERA….

Yes, we have seen Ramanath Rai's contributions to Bantwal area!!  Winning by a thin margin shows how much the local people like him even after four terms!! Sir, hope that you will achieve some real progress in this term!
