Mangaluru, Sep 23: The district BJP on Saturday September 23 condemned a recent Facebook post insulting deity Deyi Baidethi, the mother of Koti-Chennaya duo, and said that the party would be holding a protest in this regard on October 2.

Addressing a press meet at the BJP office here, party's district president Sanjeeva Matandoor said, "This (Facebook post against the deity) has hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community. The accused has been arrested but there are others who were with him when clicking the obscene photographs Deyi's statue. This issue has been politicised and there are efforts to close the case.

"There have been several instances where religious shrines were targetted. Several thefts of articles and idols from temples are also being reported these days.

"The BJP and other Hindu organisations will hold a protest march from Puttur junction to Eshwaramangala on October 2 against the insult to Deyi Baidethi," he said.

"Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts are known for their culture and beliefs, especially in Koti-Chennaya. There are several shrines dedicated to Koti-Chennaya and they have contributed to Hindutva. This act of insulting the idol of Deyi Baidethi has hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community. Earlier Kateel Goddess was also insulted with deregotary comments on Facebook," Matandoor added.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel demanded the state government to provide security for all religious places and take steps to prevent thefts in temples. "It is the duty of the governement to provide security," he said.

District BJP general secretary Brijesh Chowta, Sudharshan and Monappa Bhandary were present.

Sorry to note that nobody is interested in developmental issues in and around Mangalore. Nobody cares about lack of footpaths, bad roads, traffic chaos, corruption and red tape. This issue has been going on for so long with so many protests, processions and meetings and waste of thousands of man-hours. Let them file a complaint and let the law take its own course. The BJP wants to divert peoples' attention away from their lack of performance and development plans. All their energy is channelized into moral policing, running after cows and communalizing each and everything just before the election purely for vote-bank.

It should be noted that prior to 2014 Lok Sabha elections Muzaffarnagar went on falmed killing more than 50 people and rendering 50,000 homeless refugee in their own nation due to the fake video uploaded by BJP MLA who was later given ministry CM Yogi government and provided Z Plus security by PM Modi government.
From ministers to BJP's 'burnol' sales team everyone in social media give out rape threats, communal threats, are followed by the prime minister of India, also gave reception for 150 social media influencers in 2015, “They are invited to the prime minister’s house for a nice social-media party.”

Fully agree; if one were to scour various social media sites, there would be lacs of posts which may be derogatory/objectionable to somebody or the other; wasting time on doing media briefs n cajoling gullible public to participate in protests is criminal waste of productive time n money!! Unfortunately, off late, it has become a menace in DK!!

Even after the arrest of the culprit, for posting on facebook in insulting deity Deyi Baidethi, if BJP of DK want conduct protest on Oct 2, then it is a issue created by BJP itself.

Up to state election, they will create issues for vote. We are sure, voters will be wise. Youths want jobs.
