Once world's heaviest woman Eman Ahmed passes away


Sep 25 (DHNS): Once dubbed as the heaviest women, Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty, who underwent weight loss treatment in Mumbai and later shifted to Abu Dhabi, passed away on Monday. 

Eman (37) died at the Burjeel Hospital at Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates due to an intestinal shock and kidney failure. 

"Our prayers and heartfelt condolences go out to her family," a statement of the Burjeel Hospital said.

On February 11, she was airlifted in a special cargo plane from the port town of Alexandria in Egypt. In Mumbai, she as admitted to the Saifee Hospital. 


Eman was on 83 days of treatment under Dr Muffazal Lakdawala, chairman, Institute of Minimal Access Surgical Sciences & Research Centre, Saifee Hospital.

However, the family moved her to the Abu Dhabi hospital. When she arrived in India, she weighed around 500 kgs - and when she left, she had almost reduced by 50 percent.
