Mangaluru, Sep 28: A suicide lifeline, under the aegis of Susheg Charitable Trust, will be launched on Sunday, October 1, informed Sr Mary Evline.

Addressing media on Thursday, September 28, Sr Evline gave details about the free, safe and non-judgmental counseling center and said, “Thousands of people commit suicide in the world. Millions of depressed people think about ending life. The number of suicides has increased in Mangaluru in the past few years. Many of the youngsters opt to end their lives due to silly reasons. The primary goal of the suicide lifeline is to prevent suicide and promote mental health and well-being.”

“Our volunteers will be trained to handle people who have attempted to commit suicide or those who are showing signs of committing suicide. Any person who feels like ending their lives or any family member, who find people showing signs of committing suicide, can contact the suicide lifeline. The office will start operating at Fortune Building, Falnir from October 1 and will work 24x7,” she added.

“MLA Mohiuddin Bava will inaugurate the counseling in a programme which will be organized at Forum Fiza mall,” she concluded.
