Mangaluru, Sep 29: State minister, U T Khader, enjoyed himself by plunging into slushy agricultural field at Konaje apart from teaching a few nuances of agriculture to some foreign students.

Khader had taken part in the programme, 'Students bound for barren land of farmers' organized by a college on Thursday September 28 as a guest. He went into the wet field, and ploughed the field with a tiller for some time.

Khader also competed with students in slush field race there. He easily humbled the young students in this race. When the minister stumbled and fell in knee-deep slush, some students also tripped over him. When the minister recovered himself from this fall, his appearance had changed so much that it turned difficult to identify him.

The students surprised onlookers by completing the task of planting the seedlings in this vast field in 45 minutes flat.

Dr P Dayanand Pai, and Satish Pai of Government First Grade College, Car Street were present.

Yah... I have 6 years of experience with that 12HP VST Shakti Power Tiller used in the Khader show. We tilled land. It also pulls a weight of 12 Quintal on road. We transported paddy, Straw, manure, vegetables, soil etc. Even we went to market to sell cucumber. It is a versatile one can be used for milling, cutting stones, pump water etc.

Sometimes it is dangerous also. It also created lot of injuries and death to some people. The tail wheel of this tiller is a bad design. It is a water cooled engine due to some technical glitch once it got blasted into pieces when ploughing the land. Luckily no injuries to us.

As we escaped to cities, they are memories now. But... I feel ... I have to go back to my field... I have to go back to my field...
