Udupi, Sep 30: Arun M C from Mudipu bagged the top spot in Heavens of Karnataka's World Tourism Day photography contest held in association with Daijiworld 24x7 Udupi.

Arun received a cash amount of Rs 4444, a beautiful memento and certificate. He had captured a historical heritage locale ‘Hemakoota Hill' of Hampi. The picture showed a rare moment in dusk, which catches attention with blended colours.

Shivu K from Bengaluru bagged the second prize for his ‘Pattadakallu’ shot in the contest. He took home Rs 3333, a memento and certificate. According the judges, the picture narrates the importance of the place and colour of the photo was very nicely captured.

K Santhosh Raj from Mangaluru received the third place in the contest. He selected a beautiful point at ‘Kudlu falls’ to capture an outstanding photograph. He received Rs 2222, a memento and certificate.

Sravan Poojari from BC Road (Sathodi Falls, Yellapura), Karthik V N from Bengaluru (Gopalaswamy temple, Chamarajanagar), and Mahesh Puranik from Bengaluru (Mathanga Hill, Hampi) received attractive consolation prizes with mementos and certificates. Four more participants were appreciated by the jury.

The contest, with the theme, Karnataka Tourism, got amazing response from amateur photographers and professional photographers as well. As many as 327 entries were received from across the country. A total of 863 beautiful landscape photographs were received.

Professional photographers Kiran Acharya, Diwakar Hiriyadka and Janardhan Kodayoor judged the contest. The photos were shortlisted into two rounds considering all the features and rules of the contest. The selection process was fair and transparent.

According to the jury, the judging process was quite a tough one. But the response to the contest shows that they visit tourist places, they said. Almost all types of landscape pictures including beauty of the nature, subject based pictures, religious places and many others were received.
