Bengaluru: Prakash Rai threatens to return National Awards, questions PM over Gauri murder

Bengaluru, Oct 2 (HT): Actor Prakash Rai has threatened to return his five National Awards and condemned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on certain sections “celebrating” the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh on social media.

“Gauri’s killers have not been caught yet. But what is more disappointing is people celebrating her murder over social media spreading hatred,” Raj said on Sunday speaking at the 11th state meet of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) held in Bengaluru.

“Some of these people who celebrated her (Gauri’s) murder are followed by our Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) on Twitter. We have a PM who shuts his eyes to this,” he said.

Immediately hitting out at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Raj said, “When you look at the kind of statements he (Adityanath) makes, you don’t understand whether he’s a Chief Minister or a priest. He (Adityanath) is a better actor than me. I think I must give out all my five national awards to him.”

Clarifying Raj’s statement, Muneer Katipalla, the state president of DYFI said, “It was only a satirical comment that Prakash Raj made referring to how Adityanath was trying to act like a Chief Minister.” Raj, however, did not respond to attempts by IANS to contact him to verify if he really plans to return his national awards.

Raj had voiced his opinion after Lankesh’s murder too. “I knew Gauri for 30 years. In a sense, we were all children of (P) Lankesh, his ideologies and way of life. I never dreamt that this day would come. We were taught to be honest citizens, who would never seize to raise one’s voice. In fact, I don’t think anyone voiced their opinion more than P Lankesh himself. This was how we were taught to be. It is astonishing to see where we have come to today,” he had told Times of India.

even I had a very good opinion on this guy... very good actor... got good name and fame in Tamil Industry especially. but not sure what agenda he got in to .. and started commenting some nasty stuffs against Modi and all pro Hindu initiatives and organizations... it doesn't suit him being an actor. Extreme was when he joined Gowri and supporting all her stupid acts and talks... now she is gone... and joined destiny. What's this guy in to now... regarding Award vaapsi... it's a good old joke ... understood and forgotten by people of India. So, no fun in such statements... if really want to return.. return it to some Gujuri shop ... you may get some penny.

The more you target a Man, by default he will become famous day by day.
That is how Mr. Modi has become famous & hero.
Media, intellectuals,Fraud & Fake so called Secular parties tried to target him from 2002 till he became the PM. Modi has to thank these people.
Again they are targeting him, his popularity is growing day by day only due to these people. Modi doesn't have to do anything, these people will make him hero by default.
Same thing was done to Mr. Donald Trump & he became US President.
These people think that people are fool & people will listen to them....
Time has changed, everyone is intelligent.

When Gauri was murdered BJP came out with crocodile tears and crying out from 56" chest that the murder should be thoroughly investigated but instead PM's buddies are seen celebrating this murder. Even more duplicity from PM is that PM is not uttering a single word about this murder but Amit Shah is spending crores and crores of black money to go to Kerala to protest the killing of his goons. Do we need any proof than this???. These awards have no significance if the award is given by the govt who has no regard for its subjects, it's an insult to that the award and the nation. There is more national spirit, justification and honour to the nation in returning these awards than keeping them.

I think Mr Prakash Rai does not know anything about development took place after Gowri Lankesh murder...Gowri's brother wanted CBI enquiry and sister wanted SIT Inquiry..There was heated argument among family members..Finally everyone accepted Siddu Govt decision to conduct SIT Inquiry...Now...for God sake, you approach Karnataka CM, and NOT PM...Unnecessarily don't poke your nose and degrade your image..You are a very talented actor on screen...We accept it..but let that acting be on Silver Screen and not in real life..PleeeeeeAse..

Note: Already many intellectual writers returned their awards (only award and certificate, NOT CASH) in Rohil Vemula and JNU case...after sometime everyone came to know the truth..Now your turn to return...it is up to you...

Why PM is silent on those celebrating Gauri's murder? And PM was following those who were celebrating Gauri's murder. Is this the way society should behave? Laughing and making fun at someone's death? When an ordinary RSS man gets killed in Kerala (your home state), Union Finance Minister has time to meet his family. What does this show? Jaitley has no time for restructuring economy which is hit low. No Monkey baath (so called Mann ki baath) for all these murders. BJP sheds crocodile tears only when RSS member gets killed. Life of others has no value. What is the greatness of this PM? Whatever he does he mentions Gujarat. Is he PM for India or Gujrat? This central government is worst than that headed by Deve Gowda. Only fake speeches and no action. Bol Bachan.

Kindly ask if the Scott land yard cops have enjoyed the Blore city tour and have gone back to their natives. On you rewards , no body would care even if you quit acting. You are made by the public who pay a fee to watch on you on screen. If not you , it would be somebody else.

Ktk CM said in 2 weeks he will solve murder mistery, but after Naxal connection became thicker day by day, there is quite a bit silence.. why is this so great actor not questioning the state? well Modi hate can get yo u to the headline after not having movies on hand... good job.. but your history is also well known. it is not fair to dig into that.. but you are bringing that to lime light now..
