Karnataka Prisons department rejects Sasikala's parole application

Chennai, Oct 3 (Deccan Chronicle): The parole application of VK Sasikala was rejected by Karnataka Prisons department on Tuesday.

According to ANI, Karnataka Prisons department rejected Sasikala's parole application to visit her ailing husband.

Superintendent Somashekar cited inadequacies in application and sought more details and affidavits and asked counsel to make fresh application.

On Tuesday Sasikala, recently sacked from Tamil Nadu's ruling AIADMK, had requested parole for 15 days to attend to her husband M Natarajan, who is critically ill.

Sasikala has been lodged in a Bengaluru prison since February 2017 after being convicted in a disproportionate assets case.

74-year-old, Natarajan is admitted at a private hospital in Chennai and is expected to undergo a liver transplant. He has suffered multiple organ failure.

Natrajan, who was a government PRO, has expressed his willingness to see Sasikala.

Though Sasikala and Natarajan had been living separately since 1990s, he had accompanied her when she surrendered before the prison authorities on February 15 after she was convicted in the Dearness Allowance case.

    Dont entertain her request. She must be going for some other purpose. if they live separately for years together why she goes on parole?

    Living seperate since 1990 ,and all of a sudden she wants to visit him now? Sure when he is sick ,might have the wish to see her.Everything here is bit sentimental, or is a new trick?to comeoout ?But she has her Bakths .

    Where do you leave your brain when you make this kind of comments? Do you want justice or do you want revenge?
    Sasikala has been convicted for corruption; and she has been sent to prison for four years. Her ill-gotten wealth is being confiscated by the TN Government. What else do you want the Indian law to do with her?
    On the other hand, paroles are granted to most prisoners (including those serving life term) for certain important personal matters. As long her husband is genuinely ill with serious ailments, why should she not be allowed to visit him? Please remember she has been imprisoned under the INDIAN LEGAL system and not by AHMED EGO system.
    Release on parole does not mean that she can go on a vacation to Ooty for 15 days. Parole is always granted on certain strict conditions; and any violations of those conditions means she goes straight back to the prison.
    As an example, for you to digest - just before the last Haryana assembly election, Mr. Om Prakash Chautala (an ex-CM who was in prison on a recruitment scam) was released on parole to undergo a knee surgery in a private hospital. But that idiot went on to make a couple of campaign speeches; and two days later he was straight back in prison.

    Looks like you are her advocate, but you have forgotten that there are still some cases pending against her and as per the law she cannot get parole. Current parole request has ulterior motives in collusion with her nephew as both have been thrown out from the party, together they can do better horse-trading.
