Mangaluru, Oct 10: Head of Sri Ram Sene, Pramod Mutalik, expressed the opinion that every Hindu should have a sword with him at his home.

He was speaking at the 'Matru Poojana (mother's worship)' programme organized at Lord Manjunatheshwara temple, Kadri in the city.

The programme was held under the aegis of Sri Ram Sene and it's women's wing, 'Durga Sene'. Mutalik went on to elaborate that weapons do not mean books, pens, or vehicles.

“They mean swords, sabres etc. So it is necessary to keep swords or such other weapons at home for self protection in case of possible attacks,” he asserted.

At the programme, Pramod Mutalik himself washed the feet of women as part of the rituals. The programme is held to show the children's dedication and devotion for their mothers.

Pramod Muthalik (PM) is a huge embarrassment to the society. He is out of touch from the fast moving world and its concerns. I would rather suggest him to go deeper into tenants of Hinduism and focus more on education of Hindus about their religion rather than indulge in politics of ignorant Hindus.

"My religion is great not because I know the religion but because I belong to it": This concept of the religion and politicization thereof has led to denigration of societies. Let us be wise and learn from others' mistakes rather than make fool of ourselves by committing mistakes first and then learning from it.

PMs relevance can be best gauged from:
1. What happens if he did not exist? Would Hindus have ceased to exist?
2. How the society he thinks he represents, benefited other than give a sense of purpose to mobilize extreme elements?

Let every Hindu should have a swords at home instead of 'Vedas'. But the first victim should be Pramod Mutalik or his own loved ones. Let him feel the pain of innocents lives himself.

Now the question is for the Karnataka Home ministry. Why the National Security Act (NSA) is not applicable to Pramod Mutalik whose statement on records for instigating the public to take up arms?

There’s a huge difference between Hindutva and Hinduism:

Hindtuva teaches people to hate other religion and spreads hatred and enmity in the society. RSS and VHP are teamed up to do this task.

Hinduism spreads love among the people and teaches how to respect other religion. Temples and people like Pejawar swami are doing this noble task.

The kind of rumours you and people like you are spreading about followers of other religions in people's minds do not exist. And even if they exist, they are small enough to be ignored or can be controlled by the police (if there is no political interference). I have lived - and continue to live - with Hindus who respect other religions and being a Christian I respect Hinduism (or any religion for that matter) equally. Rescue women who are trafficked and forcibly put in flesh trade business.

what about he himself conducted the attack on women's in mangalore ? i wish the women there carried sword with them and done as per he says now ? Criminals and terrorist doesn't belong to any religion. they are just criminals and terrorist. why people and media give them religious titles. i wish and hope he new generation understand this and act wisely

Pen is mightier than sword Mr Muthalik.
Ex: Gauri Lankesh was killed not because having sword but her weapon was pen and paper.
Its better to teach something good to the society not violence and hatred

Very good!!!! Saabji….send me four swords since we have four relatives’ houses too but should be good enough to cut at least “Kori (Chicken), Meen (Fish) & Gujje (Jackfruit)”…. But nothing wrong because still far better than keeping AK47 or piston or gun at home!!!

Does he at all respect Indian laws and regulations? what kind of Nationalist he is ?

According to INDIAN ARMS ACT 1959 Pepper spray is legal and any knife/weapon with blade larger than 5 inch (excluding the handle) is considered sword and is illegal. There are some exemption fot sikh community regarding the sword.

In Mangalore we have bigger ones which is used to break coconuts not one by so many. And also Choppers which we use regularly. May be Muthlik does not use coconuts in Hubli . If Muthalik says this then Govt may say we have to have a licence.
