Mumbai, Oct 11 (IANS): Actor Amol Parashar is set for his first stint on television in and as "Gabru". He will be seen playing a Punjabi hip-hop king -- Gaurav Singh aka MC Money -- as part of the series which charts the journey of Indian hip-hop over the past six-seven years.

The 40-episode show is for Discovery Jeet.

It follows the trials and tribulations of the protagonist, who at the peak of his career faces a threat from a rival rapper Sarfaraz aka Surf, and his ex-flame Bani aka Queen B.

Amol said in a statement: "It's an amazingly complex character and I was instantly drawn to it. Since the story revolves around music and musicians, there are quite a few songs in different styles and they are all being originally composed. I heard some of the music before signing the project, and can safely say that was one the major reasons I decided to come aboard."
