Bengaluru, Oct 11: After its success and popularity among the people with the starting of Indira Canteens to supply breakfast, lunch and dinner at nominal cost in the Bengaluru city corporation wards, the Siddaramaiah government is now set to establish similar Indira Canteens in all district and taluk headquarters in Karnataka from January 1.

The State Cabinet, which met in Bengaluru with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the chair on Wednesday, decided to direct the Municipal Administration Department to identify locations for establishment of 246 Indira Canteens in all taluk and district headquarters by November 17.

Buildings for setting up all canteens would be completed by December 17.

Briefing reporters after the meeting of the State Cabinet, Karnataka’s Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra said canteens would become operations from January 1 next year.

Canteens would established nearby bus-stations, hospitals, railway stations and thickly populated areas where population is not less than one lakh, he said.

A sum of Rs 185 crore would be spent on infrastructure of canteens.

The daily expenses for running these canteens would be Rs 29 lakh and monthly expenditure would be around Rs 9 crore, he said.

Mukhyamantri Anila Bhagya Scheme

On giving LPG connections to poor families, the Minister said one gas cylinder, two burners gas stove, two refills and LED bulbs would be given to families not covered by the Prime Minister’s Ujwala scheme under the Mukhyamantri Anila Bhagya scheme.

The State Cabinet also decided to cover 10 lakh families by March 2018 under the Mukhyamantri Anila Bhagya scheme.

The Ujwala scheme covered eight lakh families. A total of 28 lakh families in the State that have no LPG connections.

Winter session in Belagavi from Nov 13

The winter session of the State Legislature will be held at Suvarna Soudha secretariat building in Belagavi, from November 13 for 10 days.

Siddanna should consider stopping Anna Bhagya and concentrate more on Indira Canteens, at least in highly populated areas to curb all kind of corruption in the Bhagyas offered to public, which will go a very long way.

Indira Canteens should also consider offering many essential products and services to public at affordable prices (no subsidy here))!!

    Jai Hind!!!

Some leaders try rule over people
And some leaders rule for the people.
Good leaders are those who bring benefits to people
And not those who involve more in Religious aspirations.
Some build statues, Cow sheds and free Ambulance services
And some visionary ones provide food to hungry stomochs on nominal charges
Some fanatics members always preach communal hatred speeches on minority
And some ensures that peace, love, humanity and secular values prevail always.

Judge yourself and decide in next elections.

Some leaders eat sleep drink Ahinnda but deny justice to good people from general merit
Some leaders loot temple fund meant for managing temple, but put it for someone elses pilgrimage, who don’t pay a penny
Some people show so much arrongance on power and abuse PM with below the belt words
Some people copy cat Tamilnadu canteen to their state and give family name as if the money is from the family.
Some people looted the public exchequer to such a lever in the urgent to give free free free, that the state may end up bankrupt soon

Where as there is still one leader who work 18 hrs a day to bring prospectity to 1 bilion people, even taking abuses left right and center from the thankless souls... still work work and work for this country ..

Alas, when will the educated jokers start thinking instead of being blind chelas

Those who can afford vehicles have the option to dine at other places too !!! That is why government is establishing canteens near bus stands, hospitals etc for budget travellers, hungry & needy, daily wage labourers etc

Roads got badly damaged due to heavy rains. Maintenance has to be done by BBMP/Municipalities. Swatch Bharath Cess needs to disbursed to states by central government rather than spending on statutes for election gain.

Indira canteen providing subsidized meals to needy is a good initiative to eradicate the hunger. In the USA under the principle of "No one should go hungry" nutritional hot meals are provided to senior citizens, disabled, and needy people in their homes for the fraction of cost under the program called " Meals on Wheels." People are working as volunteers to deliver these meals in order to bring down the cost and to build a better society which will indirectly benefit all the citizens and the nation as a whole. Such programs should be initiated in India too. Needy people do not have to stand on long queue at the Canteen. They can eat their meals at home with pride ad dignity.
