Filmfare Awards Marathi to be given out on October 27


Mumbai, Oct 17 (IANS): The Jio Filmfare Awards Marathi has returned with its third edition to honour the best in Marathi cinema. It will be held on October 27.

Actor Swapnil Joshi along with Filmfare Editor Jitesh Pillai made the announcement on Monday.

"Marathi cinema has proved to be the perfect blend of commerce and arts. Especially in the past three years, the Marathi cinema has strategically not only prospered in mainstream cinema, but also experimental cinema," Swapnil said in a statement.

"Filmfare has always been synonymous to cinema since its inception and has always given Marathi cinema the acknowledgment it deserves," he added.

Pillai said: "After two successful editions of Filmfare Awards Marathi, we intend to raise the momentum with this year's awards. Our association with Jio has come a long way and we are glad to have them on our journey of highlighting the commendable work done in Marathi cinema.

"We feel privileged to witness and celebrate the remarkable talent that exists in the Marathi film fraternity."

According to Jio, this association will help "showcase the cinematic excellence of Marathi film industry in a variety of digital ways".

"Jio is bringing transformational changes in the Indian digital services space to enable a Digital Life for 1.3 billion Indians and this association is consistent with Jio's mission to celebrate the diversity and richness of Indian cinema," a Jio spokesperson said.

The awards gala will be aired on Colors Marathi at a later date.
