Udupi: Oscar Favours CBI Probe

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jun 20: Union labour minister Oscar Fernandes has expressed view that ordering Central Bureau of Investigations(CBI) inquiry into Padmapriya's death would be the most appropriatr course in view of the mysteries surrounding her death.

Speaking to mediapersons at Mt Rosario Church Hall during his visit here for canvassing for legislative council election on Thursday, he said that even the union government can approve of the CBI inquiry as the case relates to two states, New Delhi and Karnataka. If it involved Karnataka alone, the state government approval would have been necessary, he opined.

Women Congress office bearers and other parties have submitted memorandums to me and the chief minister. I have asked them to approach the union home minister too. I will follow up the issue at Delhi, he said.

Contradicting claims made by the chief minister, state home minister and police officers have given rise to various suspicions. Answers for questions about the recovery of Padmapriya's body at Delhi after claims were made about finding her and other issues raised in the memorandums of the womens' Congress units can be got only through a CBI investigation, Oscar said.

Ex MP Vinaykumar Sorake, ex minister Vasant V Salian, Congress Udupi district president M A Gafoor, Pramod Madhwaraj etc., were present at the press conference.

Mr Oscar Fernandes has expressed wish and hopefully the case will be handed over to CBI which I expressed couple of days back in my earlier msgs. The circumstances do warrant hand over case to them.

Mr Fernandes, you being in a responsible position people have confidence and faith in you until now. Though you have done no great things in and around the city of Udipi for you being in Senior Position for such a long time, it's time you repay people of their trust by nailing the culprit irrespective of what position they hold. Prove you are worthy of their trust.

i find it ironical that many people are asking for CBi investigation under te premise that raghupathi bhat is the culprit! i find it funny that, for atul - against whom there's proof positive of his visit to delhi along with padmapriya, and also people having seen him in delhi. how many here would side with someone who's left your service, joined the opposition and then escorts your wife to another place, comes back and acts as if nothing has happened! in fact he even helps the cops search around. why should one tolerate or protect atul ? he should be given normal course of justice for sure. its utter nonsense for anyone to believe he had an altruistic feeling in helping padmapriya. breaking someone else's house should be the last thing on his mind - rather let them sort their personal problems, than rig up a story like this!

I agree with Mr. Oscar Fernandes that there should be CBI investigation. We have seen how the police "performed" during the time of Padmapriya's disappearance. Each day they came out with a new story with full of masala and kept the public at suspense.

Also, if police were to investigate, then they can make Atul a culprit when the real culprit could be someone on whom the police cannot lay their hands on. Mr. Bhat should not be afraid to face CBI investigation and their lie-detector test. We, the public just want to know the truth and only the CBI can give us the truth.

CBI investigation would mean influence from the center, and a police investigation would mean influence of state government. now you know why oscar fernandes would want a CBI investigation and why raghupathi bhat would want the state police to investigate it instead :P

A MLA's wife goes nuts because she is unhappy with her husband. She takes help of her aquaintance to disappear as her husband an influential member of the ruling party in the state assembly does not cede to her divorce demand. And so the drama started at the taxpayers expense (unless reported otherwise we are forced to conclude like this).

Then acquaintance also has a India darshan all at tax payers expense. It all ends with the MLAs wife resigning and giving herself in, to the God. Now again taxpayers comes to the rescue and Media duly plays the tune. It is never ending saga now that the opposition wants CBI also to have its share of expenditure again at tax payers expense.

Is it really necassary Mr. Oscar and all those advocates who are joining Mr. Oscar in the "chorous"? What was a domestic dispute and I don't know how many such disputes we might come across if were to count starting from Udupi to say upto Surathkal, and we want CBI into this just because a ribbon cutter demands. On the contrary, it might help if this serves as a lesson to those deniers that women empowerment in our society is taking place and they want to be more than just a door-mat.

The whole thing could have been avoided if our society including Mr. Raghupathi Bhat accepted this simple fact and did not let his family drama unravel through the streets and gallies of India via media. So shall we call the spade a spade finally?

Thank you Mr. Oscar Fernandes for supporting the CBI investigarions. Kindly do your best to see that matter is handed over to the CBI as soon as possible, so that Atul's life remain safe and other two angles does not lose their father. When the people of Karnantaka have already lost the trust in their own elected leaders, please be a good samaritian and help to bring the truth to the people especially Late Padmapriya's greiving family -mother, two brothers and little kids. If this is not done, there will be many more mysterious deaths (suicides) as people will follow their rulers thinking that just like the leaders, they also can go scot-free. Helpless people are looking for your help. All the best to you for your efforts in the matter.
