Mangaluru, Nov 3: The annual NSS Camp 2017 of St Agnes College here was inaugurated on November 1 at Ranipura Higher Primary School, Ranipura, Munnur gram panchayat.
U T Khader, minister for food and civil supplie was the chief guest. Sr Dr M Jeswina, principal, inaugurated the camp. The parish priest of Mary Vishwarani Church, Fr Santhosh D’Souza invoked God’s blessings for the camp. Sr Dr Maria Roopa, joint secretary of the college, Mohammed Monu, president, taluk panchayat, Mangaluru, Dhanalaxmi Gatti, member, DKZP, Mangaluru, Alfreeda Wilma D’Souza, member, taluk panchayat, Mangaluru, Roopa Shetty, president, Munnur gram panchayat, Sr Meena, headmistress, Ranipura Higher Primary School, Naveen D’Souza, vice-president, parish council, Mary Vishwarani Church and Neena S, PTA vice-president were the guests of honour.
U T Khader in his speech said that the strength of the country lies in the students who will be the future pillars of our nation. Camps of this type will go a long way building their personality and shaping their future. He exhorted the students to make best use of this opportunity and to be generous in rendering their little service to the people and brighten their lives. Principal Sr Jeswina in her address appreciated the students for their willingness to be a part of this camp and encouraged them to serve the society generously.
During the camp, free medical check-up camp will be organized for the locals by Kanachur Medical College and Research Centre, Natekal, Mangaluru in association with Durgavahini Mahila Mandali, Kuthar. Educational and cultural programmes will be organized for the locals. Educative sessions on various current issues will also be conducted by the eminent resource persons for the NSS volunteers. Blood typing for school children will be organized in association with the department of Microbiology of the college.
