Musical maestros to perform at an all-night concert in Jaipur


Jaipur, Nov 3 (IANS): Want to soak in the musical genius of stalwarts like Pt. Jasraj and Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia among other classical greats, all under an open starlit sky, surrounded by the beautiful edifices of master architect Charles Correa? Head to the Jawahar Kala Kendra here in the Pink City.

This splendid overnight concert, titled "Raag" will take place on Saturday night at 9.30 p.m and will continue till 5 a.m on Sunday morning.

"Looking at the enthusiastic response of the audience at the first and one-of-its-kind programme of 'Raag' in Jaipur last year, we are excited to once again host the concert this year featuring several world renowned maestros of Indian classical music," said Pooja Sood, DG of Jawahar Kala Kendra.

The concert will open with the rendition of Mohammad Aman at the Kendra's ‘Madhyavarti' amphitheatre at 9.30 pm on Saturday. This will be followed by a tabla recital by Pandita. Anuradha Pal. The midnight will unfold with the flute recital of Padma Vibhushan awardee Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia. A sarangi recital by Ustad Liyaqat Ali Khan along with Rimpa Shiva on the tabla will be another interesting feature of the show.

Noted vocalist Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande will render the ‘Jasrangji Jugalbandi' with Pt. Sanjeev Abhyankar. The musical magic will conclude with the performance of world renowned vocalist Pt. Jasraj at 5 am on Sunday.
