Udupi: Padmapriya Case - Long Drawn Procedures to Delay Investigations ?

Udupi, Jun 23: A team led by Manipal police inspector B G Achar will soon visit Delhi in connection with the investigation into the disappearance and death of Padmapriya, wife of MLA Raghupati Bhat.
The team will visit Delhi after receipt of reports from New Delhi and holding discussions with higher ups, informed Achar. Atul is in Mangalore. He had asked for protection, which we have extended. As two FIRs about Padmapriya's disappearance and death have already been registered with the police, there is no necessity of registering fresh First Information Report. We can now list out witnesses and specify different legal provisions under which those involved can be tried. The investigation is still in prilimary stages, he explained.
Police sources reveal, that lot of time, even running into several weeks is taken by bigger hospitals whenever teams of medical officers conduct post mortem examinations, as compared to smaller government hospitals,where the reports are made available immediately. As three doctors conducted post mortem examination of Padmapriya, they will have to consolidate their reports into one, which might result in undue delay, it is learnt.

In the meanwhile, Atul Rao who was discharged from the City Hospital here, left for an undisclosed destination. Rao, after getting admitted into A J Hospital here was discharged the same night on June 20. He later was admitted into the City Hospital in the city with complaints of stomach pain, but was discharged on Sunday evening.
His house at Udupi is being vacated and the household articles in the house were shifted by his wife and relatives on the night of June 22. It is suspected that they will henceforth reside at a secret place at least for the present.
Bangalore: Opposition to Rake Up Padmapriya Case in the Session
The state government led by the BJP is gearing up to face a strong tirade of issues the opposition is expected to launch against it, in the legislature session starting today, which will be a four day affair. With problems like not having absolute majority, ministers yet to firmly saddle in their departments etc.,worrying the government, the sessions promise to be stormy with burning issues like Padmapriya death case and farmers deaths due to fertiliser scarcity set to be encashed by the opposition.
Home minister V S Acharya will face flak for his failure to collect intelligence reports about his department's failure in preempting fertiliser related disturbances and also in saving Padmapriya's life after her whereabouts were found. Both the Congresss and the JDS which faced root in the recent elections, are expected to encash the opportunity to retrieve their battered images by flooring the government on various issues.
