Ahmadabad, Nov 4 (Agencies) : Rahul Gandhi’s young fan followers are increasing by the day. His rallies are star crowd pullers in Gujarat compared to other part of India so far. It looks like there is sharp rise in his popularity as he is creating huge buzz in even social media. According to a report, his tweets have re-tweeted and liked by many, public as well as political leaders.

It is yet to be seen whether this will translate into votes for Congress party or not.

But the fact is, Rahul has been seen mixing among the youth and interacting with them. Recent two incidents in which Rahul broke protocol to meet the youth made news headlines.

On Friday, standard 10 boy Manav Patel from Valsad , a student of Vallabh Ashram, went to Monghabhai Hall to see Rahul. When the leader who had embarked on a road show spotted him, he asked Manav to climb onto the roof of his campaign van. The 16-year-old's dream came true when the Congress leader spent over 30 minutes with him.

“He asked me about GST, education and infrastructure. I told him that food and clothes have become costly after GST while roads were in a terrible condition. I also believe education is not cheap here,” said Manav, who went home one happy boy.

Earlier, a 16-year-old girl had the best day of her life after Congress Rahul agreed to her request for clicking a selfie with him during his road show in Bharuch on Wednesday. Mantasha Sheth, a class 10 student of Delhi Public School, Bharuch, had made up mind to meet her ‘political idol’ when she learnt about his visit to her hometown.

Mantasha had skipped the school for the day after taking permission from her father, a distributor for products of a private telecom operator, and stationed herself near the Bharuch Railway Station. "Rahul Gandhi first noticed me near the railway station. He waved at me and I continued to follow him till the Sheetal Guesthouse where I requested him for a selfie. He readily agreed and even helped me to get to his mini-van."

While it was sweet of Rahul to spend so much time with Manav and Mantasha though they are too young to cast a vote this election, one wonders if the leader is building his base for 2019 polls. If this is true, then Rahul is half way through.
