Mangaluru: Karate helps to be more courageous, especially for women - Siddaramaiah

Mangaluru Nov 4: Chief minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated national level karate championship here at Nehru Maidan on Saturday November 4, organised by self defence school of Indian Karate Mangaluru dojo.

Addressing the gathering Siddaramaiah said, "This is for the first time Mangaluru is hosting a national level karate championship, where karate enthusiast from across the country are set to take part in this tournament. I do not know much about Karate. Happy to note that mayor Kavitha Sanil is actively involved in this sport and with keen interest she has come forward to host this tournament in Mangaluru,”

 

“Karate is necessary for self defence especially for women as they are sexually harassed and assaulted. This helps them to be more courageous enough to face the perverts. It is better to introduce Karate classes in all schools and colleges,” he added.

Siddaramaiah unveiled the trophies and medals for the tournament winner.

Artist Shabhari Ganiga painted the picture of Siddaramaiah and presented it to him.

District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, Kavitha Sanil, MLA Moideen Bava, Abhayachandra Jain, Shakuntala Shetty, Sadananda Shetty and others were present.
