Kuwait: 'Tembere' and 'Poppa' mesmerize audience at Tulu Parba

Kuwait, Nov 5: Tulu drama 'Poppa' and unique Tulu cultural show 'Tulunada Tembere' stole the limelight at Tulu Parba 2017, organized by Tulu Koota Kuwait (TKK), on the evening of Friday, October 27, at American International School, Kuwait.

The programme began with a warm welcome extended to the gathering by compere pair of Melwin Mascarenhas and Bhavishya Shetty, which was followed by national anthems of both India and Kuwait. Arun Singh of Indian Embassy Kuwait and Leeladhara Shetty Kaup, Tulu drama artiste, along with the members of TKK management and advisory committee lit the lamp. A souvenir was released on this occasion. A traditional welcome was given to the audience and the guests in the form of classical dance by the kids.



 Wilson D'Souza, president of TKK in his address gave a brief report on all the activities undertaken by the organization in the past year, which included family picnic, musical nite, blood donation camp, free medical check-up camp and financial support extended to various organizations and individuals. He also thanked all the sponsors, well-wishers, committee members and volunteers for their whole-hearted support and contribution towards all the activities that are carried out by the organization.

Vishu Shetty Ambalpady, well-known social worker, was felicitated on this occasion for his dedication towards helping the needy in the society. Vishweshwar Karkal, Vanitha Fernandes and Suresh Shyam Rao, TKK committee members were honored for their outstanding contribution to the organization. The sponsors of the event were also felicitated as a token of gratitude for their support to TKK. The felicitation part of the programme was anchored by Dr Preeti Shetty.

'Tulunada Tembere', a unique cultural show, as expected, turned out to be a hit among the gathering. This show displayed the rich cultural heritage of Tulunadu and made all the NRI Tuluvas brim with pride. This show comprised an amalgamation of culture, occupation and historical legends of Tulunadu, which was displayed magnificently in 33 scenes that included harvest scenery, brave warriors of history, different dance forms, religious performances and wedding customs and ceremonies of different religions. More than 100 members of TKK took part in this show. This mind-boggling show, written by Tharendra P Shettigar, was conceptualized and directed by Suresh Salian. Recording and editing was done by Jagadeeshwara Shanubogue U, while Tharendra P Shettigar and Shalin Vijay lend their voice. Suresh Salian and Threndra P Shettigar were honored during the course of the show in appreciation of their contribution to the success of this show.

Tulu drama 'Poppa' provided befitting finale for Tulu Parba 2017. Laughter filled the air in the auditorium and the audience enjoyed every bit of this hillarious comedy drama. Samaj Ratna Leeladhar Shetty Kaup led the team of 15 brilliant and mature artists, including Kusalda Birse Sandeep Shetty Manibettu and Telikeda Arasae Prasanna Shetty Bailoor. This drama was written by Shyam Kumar Chitrapura and directed by Sharath Uchila. All the artists of the drama were felicitated by TKK with mementos.

Ronald D'Souza, cultural secretary, coordinated the event. Vote of thanks was rendered by Jagadeeshwara Shanbhogue U, general secretary. Sound and lightings were provided by waves events and rentals Kuwait. Alban did the photography. Make-up was done by Ajay Ghosh and team. Slides work was carried out by Ramesh Bhandary and team. Souvenir artwork was desinged by Manoj Kumar.

    This time TULU PARBA programme was really unique in nature and everyone enjoyed it. Salute to President Wilson Dsouza and his team. "Tembere" presentation was excellent and all are performed well including Sanath and his partner. Tembere moved our hearts and we felt like we were in Kudla. Direction was very good and admirable. Poppa drama performed very well including jokes. We enjoyed the programme till last moment. Long live TULU KOOTA and our Kudla.
