Israel: KCS Tel Aviv Shines at 'Raknno Trophy'

Israel, Jun 23: Raknno Konkanni Weekly published from Mangalore a prestigious  Konkanni Weekly of Mangalorean Christian Community for the past seventy years had organized RAKNNO TROPHY in Israel on the 21st of June 2008.  It was a unique meet of variety of sports and games with the aim to bring in awareness towards positive reading habits in the mother tongue Konkanni. 





The solemn inauguration of the Raknno Trophy was held on Saturday at 9.00 a.m. at Vingate Ground, Nofyam, Israel.  Volley ball and Kabaddi matches for men and Throw ball match for women were held together with a couple of interesting Crazy games. Number of Mangalorean people were present on the occasion.  A renounced economist of Hitech Bubenman, Rony Ferber inaugurated the Raknno Trophy 2008. 


Austin Vagga welcomed the participants of the  Sports meet and Peter D’Souza of Chikmagalur animated the programme.  Joseph Nerry – Raknno representative in Israel, William Coorg, Tom M.S. Nelyadi, Pradeep Shirtady, Naveen Pais Naravi were on the dais during the inauguration.  The inauguration was preceded with a short prayer service.






  

Even  though there were 16 teams ready to play Volley ball, 12 teams ready to play throw ball and 7 teams ready to play Kabaddi, the teams who registered beforehand as per the norms prescribed were allowed to partake in the sports meet.  Accordingly  12 teams played Volley ball, 7 teams played throw ball and 4 teams played Kabaddi. In the Crazy games there were Running Race, Musical Chair, Insert Thread in the Needle and Blowing and Breaking the balloon.

The games were played from 9.00 a.m. till 9.00 p.m. with lots of interest in spite of the fact that there was humidity in the weather with 32* Celsius. Melwyn Furtado and associates gave a festive mood to the sports meet with the playing of different musical instruments which made the audience and supporters  to sing and dance at the victories. Apoline and the group served the participants with variety of food items and dishes. 


Konkan Catholic Association of Israel and Indian Community of Israel   joined hands with the organizing Committee of Raknno Trophy in Israel as to successfully coordinate the sports meet in Israel.  The local organizing committee comprises of Joseph Neri, Katipalla who is  the local Convener of  the Raknno Trophy with Navin Pais Naravi, William Lopez Coorg, Pradeep D’Souza Shirtady and Tom M. S. Nelyadi as the Executive Committee members.  The Raknno Editor Fr Francis Rodrigues has guided the coordination.  


On the 28th of June, Saturday, the cricket tournament of Raknno Trophy 2008 will be held at Luna Park Ground, Ramathaviv.  As special attraction to the participants and viewers special discount is given on  Raknno-Kajulo subscriptions on the days of Trophy.
