Mangaluru: College student dies on spot as bus hits bike at Kallapu

Mangaluru Nov 5: A college student died on spot when a bus hit his bike at Kallapu on the way to Thokkottu from city on the evening of Sunday, November 5.

Mohammed Sayyed Shalal from Ullal Bail is the person deceased.

After the bus hit the bike on which Mohammed was travelling, he fell down on the road and died instantly due to severe injuries.

Many people were seen on the road after the accident. They said accidents have become common these days on the same road.

After a bike-lorry accident on Saturday few meters away from today’s accident spot, people had protested complaining about the poor quality of road. A young man lost life in that accident and another one is critically injured.

    Attitude of most of the drivers on road is filled with arrogance. They do not care for other drivers on road. Two wheelers are at most risk when an accident happens mostly resulting in death. Separate lanes in major roads for two wheelers probably might prevent to some extent.

    Before blaming the rider. Or anyone else, we should see whose fault it is. And who stands wrong.
    Anyway, cut the chase. Local buses have no limiters. But they have limited time to reach their next stop. And competition? Cut throat competition. My question is. Why isnt government taking any initiative after hundred of lives are lost? Why cant these busses have speed limit? It has become impossible for bikers to ride because of these heavy vehicles. Roads have become pathetic. There have been continuous deaths, trying to avoid potholes. But my main question is , why isn’t government taking any initiative on heavy vehicles ?

    Udupi privates move faster than your car. If you are hitting 80 km/h. They fly past you.

    People blame the roads.

    In most cases, it is the negligence of the driver of the vehicle that is to blame for the accident and the level of injury.

    Particularly drivers in their 20s are very impatient to get to their destination, and drive at a dangerous speed.

    If the parents do not get a vehicle for a child under 30 years of age, many lives will be saved.

    Sad .These days such news of motorbike and bus accidents we hear a lot and deaths have happened .some give fault to always bus driver ,some give roads. Muncipality has never bothered about these to findout the cause.Too many bikes ,drive reckless, no speed control,too many vehicles on a small not much broad roads.Some dont even follow rules.At the end too many deaths. Please mayor,kindly see that roads are repaired ,and control vehicles ,and rules. Only karate on stage doesnt help citizens.people too must drive carefully.May his soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathys to the family.

    Don't divert our mind by imposing ban on pillion riders on 100cc bike instead impose ban on rash drives and focus on betterment of roads.

    Everyday I ride home n to city by this road. Majority people who rides bikes are youths who ride careless . And speeding people mostly are from kerala registration vehicle. Who drives like crazy. And mostly in this road incidents happened by kerala registration vehicles.
    My msg is specially for two wheelers WEAR HELMET
    When dis accident happened I passed same way. Reason was he didn't wear helmet.
    So if u wear helmet.. Remember to put the strap

    When we know that roads are in pathetic condition, it is our responsibility to drive defensively. Probably the rider did not wear a helmet and was riding beyond the speed limit. However, it is sad that a young life, that was supposed to support the family and build the nation is lost.

    This is too much. Too many accidents. Why can't RTO put a very strict speed limit on busses with heavy fines for violation. The driver's involved in accidents should not be allowed to drive again.

    Because of the timing these buses run very fast. Better Nationalise the private buses route. This I am telling from last 100 days and daily one accident death in DK.

    Recently Government sent a team to Bihar to study the liquor ban.
    Similarly, and regularly they should send RTO officers to U.K. to study how to drive, how to teach driving, how to take test, and finally who is fit to be on the driver's seat.
    Even Dubai is good but, their system is American. Ours is British.

    What is d Traffic Police for??

    Only to levy fines on private vehicles.

    Private busses have the blessings from the Traffi police so they drive only others to graveyard.

    Bikers drive as if they are stunt masters in that road . Triple riding and driving without helmet is common sight.
    Ironically police stand by helpless may be cause of protection available for the traffic offenders !!
