Udupi, Nov 25: Udupi police led by SP Sanjeev Patil on Saturday November 25 intercepted and seized over 20 two-wheelers belonging to VHP activists, including a minor, for holding a rally without permission.

The activists were riding in a big group carrying flags from Manipal to Udupi. When they reached near a welcome arch of Dharma Sansad at Kalsanka, the police stopped them.

SP Sanjeev Patil who was also at the spot overseeing security told the activists that they could not proceed with the bike rally as no permission was sought.

Among the riders was a 13-year-old boy, who, besides being too young to ride, did not wear helmet either.

The police then seized the bikes and parked them on the roadside.

On receiving information, VHP district president Vilas Nayak arrived at the spot and spoke to the SP.

The SP told Vilas Nayak that the activists were holding the bike rally without permission, and particularly objected to including minor in the rally.

"There is a lot of work to be done related to Dharma Sansad. Let the activists get busy with that instead of going around in bikes. They have been working hard for the past three months for this event. Let them not ruin it all by doing such things," SP Patil advised.

He also said that a case will be booked against the minor's parents for letting him ride. His two-wheeler also did not carry number plate, it is said.

All the bikes except the minor's were later released.

Well done Udipi Police. You do all your conventions but dont disturb the city life. Losing productivity means no food to all daily wage earning people. Engaging minors in the rally itself is unlawful in terms of child labour. Why they skip school and participate in rallies?? How the brainless elders using the young minds for their gain?? Now sabka saath sabka vikas has totally derailed and have suddenly become more pious than needed.

Bike rallies have become a routine thing which should be stopped as such rallies create many problems like law and order, fighting etc. What they do everything is correct and right. But when others do they protest and what not.

Might is not Right and Right is not Left. This is purely ideological crisis. It is really Law and Order situation. And only police can handle this sort of situation.

My heart is breaking seeing this Hindu VHP is degrading the Hindu name and hurting righteous Hindus sentiments. Now it is more apparent that our Hindu religion has been forcibly dragged and associated with rowdies category by these religionless and casteless hooligans who do not have any regard for Hindu culture and its sanctity. It Needs To Be Stopped At Any Cost.
