Bahrain: Karnataka Club Toastmasters New Executive Committee Takes Charge

Manama, Jul 4: The newly-elected Executive Committee of Karnataka Club Toastmasters took charge under the Presidentship of TM Joseph Andrade.   The new Executive Committee was formally installed during the Club’s meeting on Wednesday June 25, 2008, as per the guidelines of Toastmasters International Inc. by TMI Division C Area 46 then Governor, Abdul Rahim Hasan at the “Skybiz” premises of Karnataka Social Club premises.

The programme began with a choc-o-bloc agenda rolled out by TM Lionel Mendonca and a brief report on the Club’s performance and educational activities by outgoing VP-Education TM Joseph Andrade. This was followed by distribution of appreciation awards to the Executive Committee members, Club Speech Contests Winners Awards and the Toastmaster of the Year Award for the term 2007-08, as well as the release of the 4th and last issue of the Club’s literary mouth-piece, “Kaleidoscope” by the VP-Public Relations, TM Rufus Pinto. 

The 1st-half , 2nd-half and outstanding Toastmaster of the Year Award went to TM Rufus Pinto, with a clean sweep of the points table for the in-house Club performance throughout the term 2007-08.    The honor of giving away the awards for the term 2007-08 went to the newly-elected Area 46 Governor for the next term, TM Mohamed Salie, who was the chief guest on the occasion.   TM Mohammed Salie then addressed the Toastmaster members and guests.

This was followed by Governor Abdul Rahim discharging the duties of the out-going 2007-08 Executive Committee under the Presidentship of TM Leroy Saldanha and the installation of the 2008-09 Executive Committee, all of whom took the affirmative pledge with the “passing of the Toastmaster’s gavel”.  The in-coming Committee formally took their positions at the head table with TM Joseph Andrade presiding and delivering the first address to the members and guests who had gathered on the occasion.     TM Joseph Andrade encouraged all Toastmaster members to be extra-ordinary persons and go that little extra mile in their quest for better listening, thinking and speaking.

TM Zishan Beg, TM – VP-Membership
TM Colin Joseph, TM – VP-Public Relations
TM Sunil Shivadasan, TM – Secretary
TM Rajesh Shetty, TM - Treasurer
TM George Alphonso, TM - Sergean-at-arms.

During the program, TM Felix Miranda was the Jokemaster who gave a piece of the funny bone and TM Suresh Hegde with table topics helping the gathering to listen, think and talk on one’s feet.  

A sumptuous buffet was laid to conclude the programme in fellowship and camaraderie.

Karnataka Club Toastmasters has presently strength of 23 Toastmasters of whom 19 were present for the Installation Ceremony along with 13 guests that include 2 Executive Committee members of the parent, Karnataka Social Club, Millard Rodriques and Vinay. The Club operates as a separate entity of the parent Club and is affiliated to the Toastmasters International Inc., registered as Club No.2888.Members who are interested in joining the Club could contact any of the Club members or call on Mobile Tel: 39451493, Zishan Beg, the VP-Membership.
