Mangaluru, Nov 29: Christmas is round the corner, and like every year, White Doves, the well-known NGO, is ready to spread the spirit and joy of the festival with its popular mobile acts in Mangaluru, Bantwal and Udupi.

The 23rd mobile act on the birth of Jesus Christ will be presented on December 1, 2 and 3.

Revealing details of the programme at a press meet on Wednesday, November 29, Gerald Fernandes, manager, White Doves, said, “The mobile act is titled '2017-Year-Old Fact in a Mobile Act'. We present this two-hour programme every year when Christmas is round the corner. This year, we are organizing this on the first three days of December.

"On Friday, December 1, we will present the act at Loretto church ground at 6:30 pm, followed by Shirva church ground on December 2 at 6.30 pm. On December 3, we will present the act at Nehru Maidan and at St Agnes Special School grounds, Bendore in Mangaluru at 5 pm and 8 pm respectively.

“A special truck will be used for this mobile act and a total of 150 artistes will use a 120 ft long stage for their performance. Music, dance and acting will be the main attraction of this mobile act. Through this mobile act, we are trying to spread peace and joy in the society which is the real message of Christmas," Fernandes said.

White Doves founder-president Corrine Rasquinha and secretary Jerome Coelho were present.

With the slogan of 'sharing and caring' the NGO White doves was established in 1990 under the leadership Corrine Rasquinha. It operates two rehabilitation institutions at Matada Khani Road and Jail Road Mangaluru, caring and sheltering the abused, destitute and mentally challenged by providing selfless support. Most of the inmates are from distant places, found mentally deranged, lying in public places starving and delirious. It also has a children's home at Kulshekar. It distributes 150 to 200 food packets to people who are poor and abandoned on streets.

I appreciate the effort of White doves spreading the message of love. When performing for the public in Mangaluru, it is better to use Kannada as much as possible, so we can gel with the community. Using English has opposite effect as people treat us like foreigners.
