Bagalkote: Arguments with chief minister, 8 protesters arrested

Daijiworld Media Network - Bagalkote (MS)

Bagalkote, Dec 2: In an incident that occurred on Friday, December 1, office- bearers of the 'Sangolli Rayanna Yuva Gharjane Sanghatane', who had come to submit their request to include the Kuruba community to 'Scheduled Tribe' category, entered into an altercation with the chief minister (CM) Siddaramaiah.

The organization had planned to seize the helipad by making a circle with thousands of sheep, where the CM was scheduled to arrive by helicopter to attend a centenary celebration function. However, this was foiled by the police as they did not allow them to go inside the helipad with the sheep. So the office-bearers could only submit their request and during that time they had a heated argument with Siddaramaiah and shouted slogans against him.

CM, who was irritated by this development, said, "I have not talked about including the shepherd community to scheduled tribe category." To this statement of the CM, the office-bearers voiced their protest by shouting slogans against him. Siddaramaiah, who got furious on this asked, "Who has allowed these people here? Put all of them behind bars."

Police promptly arrested eight people of the ’Sangolli Rayanna Yuva Gharjane Sanghatane', including Veeranna Halegowda, working president of the organization.

Police can't just put someone behind bar because the CM told them. They need to have broken the law and that breach should be a congnisable offence.
