Mangaluru: Police seize Rs one crore in cash from car, arrest three

Mangaluru, Dec 8: The Kankanady police on Friday December 8 arrested three persons who were transporting a whopping Rs 1 crore in cash by car.

The arrested have been identified as Tanaji (54) from Sangli in Maharashtra, Dinesh Prakash Sinde (20) from Belagavi and Amul Mali (29), also from Sangli.

Acting on credible information, Kankanady police inspector Ravi Naik and his team while on night rounds intercepted a Hyundai i20 car bearing Maharashtra registration (MH-10-9908) and found that the occupants were transporting Rs 1 crore in cash. The accused were then taken to the police station and questioned, but they could not produce any documents to explain the cash.

The police then arrested them and seized the money, as well as the car and the mobile phones belonging to the accused.

The operation was conducted on the directions of police commissioner T R Suresh, and guided by DCP (law and order) Hanumantharaya, DCP (crime and traffic) Uma Prashant and ACP K Ramarao.
