Mangalore: DVS Drops Bombshell, Hints Defections in DK

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (MM/RD)

Mangalore, Jul 11: At a time when high powered defections have rocked the Congress and the JD (S) alike at the state level, BJP state president D V Sadananda Gowda has dropped a bombshell by claiming that defections will soon take place in Dakshina Kannada (DK) district. He revealed that many prominent leaders in the district have already expressed their willingness to join the BJP.

One can recall that already five MLAs from the Congress and the JD (S) have recently joined the BJP in the state, a development that has hit the headlines of even national dailies. The statement of D V Sadananda Gowda has succeeded in arousing curiosity among the political analysts here. However, Gowda is yet to reveal any of the names of people he is sure of roping in.

Meanwhile, DK has four MLAs each from both the BJP and the Congress, but it's not yet clear as to who have made up their minds to join the BJP.

Sources say, that the BJP has been in touch with leaders of Moodbidri and Beltangady legislative assembly constituencies. However, it appears that these leaders have put forth huge demands before the BJP leaders. Hence, the defection has been delayed in DK, sources have opined.

These defectors are acting like a bunch of "political prostitutes". The BJP must have lured them with a few crores (from Andhra's Reddy's money) and then they went these MLA's went wagging their tails . I must blame the congress. they have such a weak leadership in Karnataka.

This man Mr. Kharge is barely articulate and can hardly convey his point. What kind of a leader is he? Congress needs to stand up united and fight back remember the old saying " a tooth for a tooth a nail for a nail".

Where BJP is proceeding?is this a real requirement for the party to survive? Many people we can find with the winners. But none of them will stay when lost.I think soon BJP will pay for these kind of nonsense unless the leaders take a cautious step to build the party.

These MLA's not only wasting people’s time and money they even betray peoples trust with them. Most of the time people vote for party not for candidate. So What I am suggesting here is that they should be barred from competing in next Two to Three elections and all the expenses incurred should be collected from them.

BJP is getting a taste of its own medicine. All this horse trading is only helping the politicians. No benefit for the common man. The people should not support such defectors.

This is a worst news for BJP and its true admirers. This is ruining the BJPwhich ahs been built painstakingly by unselfish acts of many. This is unprecdented. I don't agree with some views here that BJP did this in Gujarath. I request those people not to put all sorts of allegations just because BJP was successful in Gujarath. But nearer home, BJP has become worst party in the matter of a month in power. I wish the central leaders now intervene and stop this non-sense otherwise BJP will not have a future in this state. People are watching and will answer all these BJP non-sense during the loksabha. Karnataka people normally vote for the party (with a few exceptions) - so leaders deefecting does not change people's perception. BJP WILL GET COMPLETELY DEFEATED IN LOKSABHA ELECTIONS IF THEY CONTINUE THIS UNETHICAL PRACTICE

Dr.Shetty, What you said is fine but what about the expenses for the by-elections? How is BJP different from any other party? If MLA's have come on their own will - then why offer them high positions. Boy...this is all getting ugly and we people suffer as politicians mint either ways!!

Dear Dr. Shetty, although their action is not unconstitutional, six months what they get prior to by-election is enough, for them to make good of it, leave alone the expenses of by-election. They cannot take us for a ride they must bring amendments in the constitution.

BJP is known for horse trading. It is following what Modi has done in Gujarat. There will be a time when BJP MLAs will not get any ministerial berth and all the ministeries will go to defected animals. As a result there will be revolt within the BJP. WAIT AND WATCH

Guys! there is nothing illegal or unconstitutional in what these people are doing. They are resigning as MLAs and would seek a fresh mandate in the next election. People, if not happy with their move, do not have to vote for them at that time. This is not horse trading. By-elections will be held in their erstwhile constituencies to elect a new representative. The people can again vote a congress person in power at the time. They are just exercising their constitutional right!

Who will bear the expenses of by-election? Tax payer? Why? Elected member cannot bring development to his constituency, if his party is not in power? Aren’t these people misleading us? What we are doing?

Dear Mr.Gowda, The BJP party is ruled by mining lords of Bellary who are originally from Adhra Pradhesh, karunakaran reddy and janardhan reddy. If at all a man from Karnataka wishes to show some activeness in Andhra politics they wouldnt have given him a chance to do anything there, then why you people fall at these Reddy's ?
