Mangaluru: PM Modi arrives in city, gets rousing welcome from huge crowd at airport

Mangaluru, Dec 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived to a grand welcome at Mangaluru International Airport in the early hours of Tuesday December 19.

Though PM Modi was supposed to arrive by a special flight at 10.30 pm, it was past midnight when he finally landed here.

But the delay did not dampen spirits of the huge crowd of BJP leaders, members and supporters who gathered at the airport to welcome the PM.

The joy was double for the BJP supporters as, apart from the PM's arrival, they also celebrated the party's wins in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

Nasik bands, drums and chende were also brought to the airport to celebrate the twin victories. The jubilant supporters waved party flags and chanted slogans.

The venue was jampacked and the entrance to the airport was chocked with traffic.

The PM was welcomed by the district BJP leaders BJP leaders MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Vedavyas Kamath and others amid loud cheers from the crowd. Much to the delight of the supporters, he came near them and waved in acknowledgement, before leaving the airport.

Union minister of state for shipping Pon Radhakrishnan, Karnataka DG-IGP Neelamani Raju, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA S Angara, deputy commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, ZP president Meenakshi Shantigodu, vice-president Kasturi Panja and other leaders received the PM.

Tight security was arranged at the airport right from the entrance. ADGP Kamal Pant and other police officers were present.

Modi will stay at Circuit House and on December 19, travel to Lakshadweep by helicopter.

Prime Minster leaves for Lakshadweep

PM Modi who arrived in the early of Tuesday, left the city by an IAF helicopter in the morning from the international airport here. He was seen off by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, district BJP president Sanjeeva Matandoor, former MLC Monappa Bhandary, former MLA Yogish Bhat and other BJP leaders.

This was PM Modi's second visit to Dakshina Kannada in a span of one month. He had visited Dharmasthala in Beltangady on October 29, and according to sources, is likely to visit the coastal region again this month end.

I was reading all the comments of readers. I would like to put my points. Some might like some might object. I want to put it in a broader prospective. I was reading that when Politicians come there are many supporters. This was normal during Congress time also.

When Indira Gandhi used to come normally many people used to come only thing is that time TV, social network etc was minimal or not available. Let us not say all these things. The only issue is why are readers making comments on Nalin Kumar Kateel. Pls note in Parliament you can talk in Kannada also and there are translators for it .

We don't need to speak in English or Hindi. Moreover 80% of MP from Tamil Nadu speak in Tamil though they are well versed in English. Pls do not speak negative on this. Pls note Nalin kumar Kateel is MP from Mangalore for the third time. Do you know why he is winning not because he is a good Politiciand etc but because of Useless Congress Candidate.

If Congress had a strong candidate supporting all communities then Congress can give a tough time to Nalin Kumar Kateel. That is not happening. Congress claim they are Secular but I call it as Sickular. Pls wait and see the next state election Congress will have a tough time in Undivided Coastal Karnataka.

I'm not saying they will not win but the no. of constituencies will come down drastically. Ramanath Rai talks all big but doesn't have the guts to arrest Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat. This is the apathy. The only Congress MLA whom I salute and who has really worked hard for all the communities is U.T. Khader. He will definitely win again and chances for others are dismissal. Pls Pls wake up and get the confidence of people else congress being routed out in Coastal Karanataka is very high. Pls note I'm neither a Congress or BJP supporter. I'm looking for Politicians who look after the overall development and give priorities in Employment to our Uneducated youth in Govt and Pvt Organisations.
