Stone- throwing incidents in Belagavi - three policemen injured

Belagavi, Dec 19: Three policemen sustained injuries in the sporadic stone-throwing incidents that took place in communally sensitive Khadak Galli, Khanjar Galli, Khade Bazaar and nearby areas on Monday late night.

Assistant commissioner of police Shankar Marihal, police inspector Prashant, and another policeman are the injured.

As per information available, mobs from Khade Bazaar and Khanjar Galli threw stones on shops and houses by raising slogans at around 10.45 pm. Some cars and two-wheelers were also set on fire during that time. When the police visited the place, stone throwing did not stop and some police personnel became victim of the same.

The reason for the sudden provocation is not yet known.

Additional police forces were deployed in the area to stop the violence.
