Mangaluru: Karavali Utsava from Dec 22-31 - Host of cultural programmes lined up

Mangaluru, Dec 19: A variety of cultural pragrammes are scheduled between December 22 and December 31 on the occasion of Karavali Utsav being organized by the Dakshina Kannada district administration at the Stage of Exhibition ground and Kadri Park which will be held every day between 6 pm and 9 pm.

The cultural programmes will be presented by the budding local artistes of Dakshina Kannada, state, national and international fame. The programmes include Carnatic classical music, Hindustani classical music, light music, Bharatanatyam, dance drama, magic show, Yakshagana, Talamaddale and Tulu drama.

The event will begin with a cultural procession from Nehru Maidan at 3.30 pm on December 22 followed by inaugurtion at Karavali Utsav Maidan at 6 pm the same day.

The programme details are as follows:

Saturday, December 23: 6 pm-7 pm there will be a saxophone play by Dr Machchendranath and team from Mangaluru. From 7 pm to 9.30 pm, 'Shambhavi Vilasa' Yakshagana by Satvik Teja Kalakendra from Odiyoor by women artistes.

Sunday, December 24: 6 pm-7.30 pm Bhavageeta and folk songs by Swarashree Sangeetha Vidyalaya, Mangaluru. From 7.30 pm to 9 pm Bharatanatyam by Saurabha Sangeetha Kala Parishath, Yeyyadi, Mangaluru.

Monday, December 25: 6 pm to 7.30 pm Sugama Sangeetha by Chandrashekhara Hedge and team from Puttur. From 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm, Yakshagana by Shree Vinayaka Yakshagana Mandali, Suratkal.

Tuesday, December 26: 6 pm-8 pm, Talamaddale by Jabbar Samo and team. From 8 pm to 9 pm, Karavali Samskritika Vaibhava by Media Friends, Mangaluru.

Wednesday, December 27: 6 pm -7 pm – Bahubhasha Kavigoshti by Kannada Balaga. From 7 pm to 9.30 pm a Tulu comedy drama ‘Kode Budpale’ directed by Devadas Kapikad, Mangaluru.

Thursday, December 28: 6 pm-7.30 pm a Dance Metaphor ‘Nenapadalu Shakunthale’ by Nada Nrutya Institution, Mangaluru. From 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm Dakshina Kannada Cultural Variety Entertainment Programme by Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy.

Friday, December 29: 6 pm-7 pm Cultural Extravaganza by CARDTS Samvedana Manemakkalu, Mangaluru. From 7 pm to 9 pm Dakshina Kannada Konkani Cultural Programme by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy.

Saturday, December 30: 6 pm-7 pm, ‘Bharathanatya Sambrama’ by Vidushi Kumari Annapoorna Shetty and team, Kinnigoli. From 7 pm to 9 pm Dakshina Kannada Tulu Cultural Programme by Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy.

Sunday, December 31: 6 pm-7 pm, ‘Sangeetha Saurabha’ by state awardee blind artiste Kumari Kasturi and team. From 7 pm to 9 pm Kannada Drama ‘Rudrabheema’ by Gururaj Marpalli and team from Udupi.

Friday, December 22: 6 pm-7.15pm Carnatic Classic Singing by Vidushi Shankari Murthy Balila and team, Puttur. From 7.15 pm to 9 pm ‘Vismaya Jadoo’ by Mega Magic Star Kudroli Ganesh and team, Mangaluru.

Saturday, December 23: 6 pm-7.45 pm - Dance Glory - ‘Shivam’ by Vaibhav Arekar and team, Mumbai. From 7.45 pm to 9.30 pm Sitar instrumental by Padmashree Awardee Ustad Shahid Parvez, Pune.

Sunday, December 24: 6 am-7.30am ‘Udayaraga’ – Dasa Kirthanegalu by Kumari Yashaswini and team, Moodbidri From 7.30 am to 8.30 am - Yoga Show and Meditation by Yogaratna Gopalkrishna Delampady and team, Mangaluru. From 6 pm to 7.15 pm Violin Jugalbandhi by Tejas Manjunath and Pranav Manjunath, Bengaluru. From 7.15 pm to 9.15 pm –‘Raga Ondu, Bhava Halavu’ by Keerthana Rao and team, Mangaluru.

Monday, December 25: 6 pm – 7.45 pm, devotional songs by Dr. Vidyabhushana and team, Bengaluru. From 7.45 pm to 9.30 pm Dance Metaphor by Natyalaya, Urwa, Mangaluru.

Tuesday, December 26: 6 pm–7.15 pm, Hindustani classical singing and Dasavani by Dhananjay Hegde and team, Mumbai. From 7.15 pm to 9 pm Hindustani classical singing, Dasavani and songs by Vidushi Sangeetha Katti and team, Bengaluru.

Wednesday, December 27: 6 pm–7.30 pm ‘Carnatic flute singing’ by Prapancham S Balachandran and team, Chennai. From 7.30 pm to 9 pm ‘Carnatic classical singing’ by Naiveli Santana Gopalan and team, Chennai.

Thursday, December 28: 5 pm–9 pm ‘Yuva Utsav’ by the students of various colleges of the district.

Friday, December 29: 5 pm–9 pm ‘Yuva Utsav’ by the students of various colleges of the district.

Saturday, December 30: 6 pm–7 pm ‘Dasavani’ by Uttam Kumar and team, Mangaluru. From 7 pm to 9 pm “Sangeeta Rasamanjari” by Voice of Music, Mangaluru. 10 am to 6 pm - ‘Karavali Cartoon Fest’.

Sunday, December 31: 6 am–8 am– Udayaraga-Hindustani classical singing by Pt. Balachandra Nakod and team, Hubballi. From 6 pm to 8 pm ‘Santoor Jugalbandhi’ Padmashree Awardee Pt. Bhajan Sopori, Abhay Rustum Sopori and team, New Delhi. From 8 pm to 9.15 pm, ‘Gotipuva Nrutya Vaibhav’ by Abhinna Sundar Gotipuva Nrutya Parishat, Puri, Odisha. 10 am to 6 pm - ‘Karavali Cartoon Fest ‘
