Robbers drill bank wall, flee with Rs 30 lac ATM money in Tumakuru


Tumakuru Dec 21 (DHNS): Miscreants robbed a SBI ATM of Rs 30 lac near Hirehalli Industrial Area by the highway, in Tumakuru, on Wednesday night.

Though the ATM is within the bank, the robbers have drilled the wall and made away with the cash.

Police said that the robbers have taken the CCTV and the recorder with them.

The ATM did not have a security guard.

The robbery was noticed by customers who came to the ATM in the morning to draw cash. They have alerted the Kyatsandra police.

Kyatsandra PSI said that after the ATM robbery in Manchalakuppe nearby, the bank had been asked to appoint security staff and provide proper lighting inside and outside the ATM; to which the bank had agreed. Despite the warning, no security staff had been stationed at the Hirehalli ATM he added.

SBI Assistant Manager Mahadeshwar has filed a complaint.

SP Divya Gopinath visited the scene of the crime with her staff this morning.

    This is nothing new. Robbers fled away with Rs. 30 lac after drilling the wall of the bank. As usual, there were no security guards and those idiot robbers cooly walked away with the CCTV and the cash.

    Poor surveillance implementation by the bank. They should have real time integration of cameras to the regional command center. any interruption should generate alarm in command center and in the bank automatically in real time.
