Puttur: Late evening armed robbery - family members tied up, robbed

Puttur, Dec 23: Members of a family residing in Kedila in the taluk had a shock of their lives when armed robbers barged into their home late evening on Friday December 22, and robbed them of cash and jewellery.

Reports said that three robbers visited the home of the victims at about 7 pm on Friday. The house they chose for committing this crime belongs to Shivashankara Putturaya from Kedila village. They threatened family members by pointing a pistol at them. All the three members of the family were then tied up with a rope.

The robbers snatched away gold ornaments worn by Shivashankara's wife and daughter. They also took away cash of Rs 20,000 found in the house. The family members who could somehow free themselves from the rope at about 10.30 pm, informed the police thereafter. The police personnel visited the spot, undertook probe and registered a case.
