Mangaluru: VHP condemns govt orders to reduce loudspeaker volume in Kadri Temple

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (EP)

Mangaluru, Dec 23: Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) has condemned orders from Muzrai department to reduce the volume of loudspeakers in Kadri Temple.

Jagadish Shenava, district president of Vishwa Hindu Parishat, Mangaluru in a letter addressed to the executive officer of Kadri Manjunatheshwara Temple has stated that various cultural programmes are being held in Kadri temple for centuries.

“The temple has a history of hundreds of years. Yakshagana also has been performed for several decades. Use of loudspeakers is inevitable because it is a public place” the letter reads.

“A person from nearby had written a letter to Muzrai department requesting to ban loudspeakers citing his sickness. The Muzrai department has now acted against the sentiments of Hindus by sending orders to the temple. It is sad that that the department has ordered to reduce the volume of loudspeakers,” the letter adds.

“It is condemnable that the government, which says nothing to mosques which use loudspeakers in their peak volume for 365 days of the year, has asked the temple to reduce the volume of loudspeakers,” the letter informs.

“It is a beating of the government on the feelings of Hindus. The orders of the government should not be followed at any cost by the temple. There will be violent protests if the orders are followed,” concludes the letter.

The office bearers of VHP handed over the letter to the temple on Friday, December 23.

If there is loudspeaker in the mosque then there should be loudspeaker in temple and church. All are equal.

None of the books state the use of the loud speaker.

All loudspeakers should be banned everywhere & the devotees of all faiths should be made to respect traffic and public inconvenience caused due to their erratic parking & walking on roads Friday noon.Light house hill road is a complete mess on Friday noon.A portion of the road is reserved for parking & this causes traffic jam & total chaos.Devotees should themselves form a committee to avoid this inconvenience due to your faith as should Kadri temple devotees reduce speaker volume without the need of complaints and court order.Where goes our civic sense?God probably will be terribly ashamed of such devotees of his/ hers!!

There is nothing wrong if the loudspeaker is tuned to suit better listening. Just increasing the sound only creates noise and most of the time, cannot understand the dialogues or what the speaker speaks. So absolutely, there is no need to make this a big issue and create nuisance. God favours humble minds.. Lets live and let live....

Kadri temple is perhaps more than 1,000 years old (may have been rebuilt multiple times).

It is true that the various religious programs have been held for as long.

But the loud speaker was only invented in the last 100 years.

And the Kadri temple was not using loud speakers (like they do now) 40 years ago!

The noise is very recent phenomenon.

@Karthic karkera mangalore,be honest ,one doesnt buy a flat because there is/ was temple there. It is his wish and might have come later. He didnt feel well because of loud noice, and asked to reduce.Sure sometimes I too feel some loudspeakers are too loud at times and one can make the sound little bit slow.Because the temple is thousand years old ,need not make the sound loud.what about the patients in nearby hospitals or nursing homes would feel with loud music and sound? Please try one day to sleep there as a patient and you will know how it is.We have to adjust to the present situation ,not because of last thousand years.loudness doesnt make one more devotee.everything in mass. All religions should think of it.loud during the day and night up to certain hours .Then end.We hear it during the marraige times ttoo.children get effected with loudness. One can enjoy music better when not too loud.

    1. In the past , less houses , less people so louder were the speakers.
    2. Presently technology has greatly advanced that use digital sound which can be precisely controlled.
    3. Utilize sound engineers and acoustics to enhance the sound but not loudness.
    4. Temple church mosque are places of worship. With the.exception of festivals , other times there should be strict regulations. In medeveal ages when there was no electricity Bells or calls were relevant now they do not have any.purpose other than traditions.
    5. Flats and apartments were.permitted around kadri temple. Who gave.them permission? Why not give objection at that time?
    6. Now that they are here , it is imperative that adjustment made to enhance sound.quality but reduce decible levels.

    7. Some people want to muddy the waters and then only they can catch mugudu fish!!
    8. It is an abomination to all mangalorean educated people who have allowed thse people to muddy waters and cause communal disharmony. so

Ban all loud speakers for all religions. It is a biggest issues in India and midle east.. We were in india at mornig call for prayers which interrupts sleep for many healthy or sick people as well leople works on shifts etc. My kids are born in North America and first of thier visit to India/dubai and asking me why such loud speakers and what they say in that call. God is present everywhere and I realy don't think he need louder prayers or call for prayers. It is all man made blunder to fool people . Pray from your heart and mind from dedication which is the best we can offer to god. This is my opinion. Sorry I am not offended to any but honest opinion. God is divine and pray for peace.

Rule of law must prevail and should be applicable equally irrespective of religious, party, club, association or other organisational affiliations.

In India all forms of noise including use of loudspeakers, firecrackers etc. is regulated by the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 under the Environment Protection Act 1986.

There are several Supreme Court and High Court orders that have upheld the right of the citizen to live in peace and not to be an unwilling part of a “captive audience”.

Only 2 days back, a division bench of Justice Naresh Patil and Justice Nitin Sambre of the Bombay high court while hearing a petition filed against an annual mushaira event in Mumbra that allegedly goes on the entire night, said : “You find it difficult to crack down on noise violations because you have allowed it all this time. The police should use all effective means to ensure that the noise violations stop. It is not enough to only act after the rule is broken or just record the noise levels and file panchnamas. Disconnect the speakers. You could also get in touch with the electricity department and ask them to disconnect the power after the deadline expires”.

Most of the ministers of tippu are hindu, including his treasurer Krishna Rao, Majority of tippu army is hindu. He used to send donations to many tempels, and in some temple still have the proofs . He is called TIGER by the people of mysore because of his greatness, Even hyder Ali fought with british but he is not a hero. Tippu was hero till karnataka govt started celebrating. I know history. Don't try to teach me. How many temples he destroyed in South Kanara? How many churches he destroyed? How many he killed those belong to chrisitanity and hinduism? Hindus showed solidarity with christians in those attacks by Tipu and there is one church in Kiren where still christians honour those heroes of hindu family who saved the church. I have nothing to do with BJP or Congress. I consider both these parties are using religion for vote bank. So we need third force which treats everyone equally. We neither need hindu or christian or muslim appeasement parties. We need those political parties which try to bring a bridge between all religions. Why and Whose Brute Forces had destroyed Milagres Church? 2. By which material Idga Mosque was built and when it was built? 3. On Ash Wednesday more than 75 thousand Canara Catholics were arrested and taken to Srirangapattan by whose brutal forces? 4. Why one lake near Mangalore was named as "NETTARKERE"? 5. Why 3 Bunts families near the Kirem church were facilitated every year during the annual feast?........list is endless but please answer these questions by reading the Authenticated history of Tipu the Butcher.
