Mangaluru, Dec 24: ‘MCE Karavali Meet’, the global alumni meet of Malnad College of Engineering (MCE) was held at City Beach Hotel on Saturday, December 23.

K S Jayanth, Principal of MCE inaugurated the meet by releasing the balloons.

“I am really honoured to address the global alumni of MCE. I will never forget this day in my life. The organizing committee has created an atmosphere here just like in MCE Hassan and its branches. They have done a very good job and have shown their creativity,” K S Jayanth said in his speech.

“MCE was started in 1960 by the late Chandappa Patil. So far it has produced over twenty five thousand engineers and now they are spread all over the globe. The engineers of our college not only got certificates for their profession, they are also known as good human beings with golden hearts. Thousands of our students today are leaders in society and corporate houses. Many have become political leaders, part of government and its administration. But wherever they go, they are recognized as students of MCE,” he added.

“I am thankful to Suhas Hegde, the chairman of core committee of this event. He has made this event a memorable one,” he concluded

Suhas Hegde Nandalike welcomed the gathering. James Mendonca rendered the vote of thanks.

Vijay Mayya and Sowjanya Hegde compered the programme.

The two-dayalumni meet includes live local folk art on display, reminiscence, music, live performance and felicitations, fireworks, city tour, movie show, and fellowship meals.

It was a great occasion. We regret we missed this. Some of my classmates attended n looking at the pictures, I can simply conclude that they had lot of fun. Firstly hearty congratulations to the organisers for the idea for this meet n then to realize it. I can guess about the huge effort put in by the committee in coordinating to make this happen successfully. Undoubtedly MCEians have made a name for themselves n calling it a Brand would not be a surprise. All the best n Long Live MCE and MCEians to reach greater heights n remain Great Humans.
