Shivamogga, Dec 24: The additional JMFC court at Sagar in the district, on Saturday December 23, issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against journalist, Ravi Belagere. It instructed the commissioner of Bengaluru city to execute this warrant.

The order pertains to a case filed by S Lingaraj, convener of Dalit Sangharsh Samiti's Sagar town unit and member of Bagar Hukum Samiti relating to an article published in 2010 against him by 'Hai Bangalore' tabloid published by Belagere. Lingaraj had filed defamation case relating to the report that had accused him of wrongdoing.

The case now stands posted to January 18, 2018.

Judge of the court, Felix Alanso Antony, had issued body warrant against Belagere on December 13, as he failed to appear in the court during the previous hearing. The body warrant was later withdrawn on December 20 because of interim bail granted to Belagere by a sessions court at Bengaluru and taking into account his health condition then.
