Jeddah, Jul 16: Hassan Bawa,a Mangalorean aged about 34 years, met with an accident and died immediately while he was being taken to a hospital. The mishap took place on Monday, July 14 at around 12.30 am at Jarir area in Jeddah when he was on his way to his accommodation after finishing his duty. He had been working as cashier at the City Plaza Mall in Jeddah since July 2005. His accommodation is situated in close vicinity, within walkable distance from his Plaza.

As usual, he was walking back to his room after his duty was over. There are two crossroads in between his office and residence. Reliable sources disclosed, that while he was crossing the second intersection, a Saudi citizen, who was driving his car recklesly and at high speed, took a U-turn on the wrong side and hit him fatally. "Immediately he was taken to a nearby hospital, but he breathed his last within five minutes of the accident. The accused was taken into custody immediately after the tragedy", informed Muhammad Haneef, Kulai, HR Manager of the Plaza, who was present throughout, till all formalities required to be complied with the accidental death were completed, informed Daijiworld.

He was also instrumental in getting the job for Hassan Bawa at the Mall. According to information furnished by him, the deceased was the recipient of the Best Cashier Award and also the Best Staff Award for his outstanding achievements. He was highly energetic and enthusiastic, and was loved by almost everyone in the Company. He opined that his death is an unbearable loss for the Company as well as his family. Hassan was covered by GOSI (Sadui Arabian Social Insurance Scheme for the Workers/ Employees). We, the staff members of the Mall, have decided to help the family of the deceased with financial aid, he revealed.

Hassan Bawa was the only son of Ahmed, who hails from Jokatte in Mangalore Taluk and he was the lone bread winner of his family. His untimely demise has plunged his family in the ocean of sorrow and has created a void in their lives. He is survived by his wife Zareena, a female child, his parents, relatives and friends.

The funeral rites of the deceased were held yesterday in Jeddah after completion of all formalities.
