Chikkamagaluru: No proposal before centre to amend constitution - Shobha Karandlaje

Daijiworld Media Network - Chikkamagaluru (SP)

Chikkamagaluru, Dec 26: "There is no proposal either before the central government or BJP to amend the constitution," said MP and BJP state secretary, Shobha Karandlaje.

She gave this clarification when she was questioned about the controversial statement made by union minister, Ananth Kumar Hegde, about bringing amendments to the constitution. "While there are no discussions either at the party level or the government about amending the constitution, discussions are on to strengthen the constitution and to make it more powerful," she stated.

She however, refused to give her opinion about the correctness or otherwise of Hegde's statement. When questioned about the ill-affects of such statements to the party, she said senior leaders of the party will look into it. "If they feel that the party will be harmed, they well respond on their own. I do not want to pass any comment about his statement. He is union minister and five-time MP," she said.
